He will probably ban you soon.

For some reason zesto implemented a system where some users (such as me) dont need to follow the rules. It's becuase i have power while you have none.
You're able to have a site because you're willing to cuck out somewhat to the censors. I could create a site, but I don't really feel like it unless I can talk about rapey stuff.

Apparently Zesto felt the need to cuck out too, because he said that his concern with my presence on his site was my "fedposting" (although I think he thought I was the same user as Near or something, or maybe that was just yet another pretext for kicking me out).

Well i will follow the swedish limitations when it comes to speech, i need to avoid inciting violence/hatred towards any etnicity, religious group, gender identity or sexual orientation.

So i cannot freely express my opinions towards people of other religions i dislike.

There are sever hosting services adverstised as “resilient” or “off-shore”. Typically they are used for warez. I guess the providers would also be fine if you use it to host a forum to express extreme politically incorrect opinions.

It's hard to find a truly bulletproof one, though.

Generally providers are less nosy with VPS than with direct web hosting. Is politically incorrect opinions your only issue? The Daily Stormer found a house in the clear web after being refused service many times. You may want to follow their steps. Information about registries and registrars are publicly available via the whois system. There are web gateways for whois. E.g: whois info for dailystormer.name.

Yeah, the issue is, different hosts will allow certain kinds of free speech but not others. For example, one host might be cool with Nazi content but not with pedo content. Or vice versa.

I've also noticed a new trend, where if a host decides they don't like your content, they may not even let you have access to your data anymore, which means you have to back everything up at least daily. It's just getting to be a pain in the neck.

Look at what registrars and hosts are used by sites with content similar to what you want to host. Check the IP addresses of the web site with command “host” or “dig” in GNU/Linux then look up which autonomous system announces those IP addresses. The organization that controls the AS is not necessarily the service provider to the web site because there can be middlemen. Use https://bgp.he.net/ to look up autonomous system or the “whois” command.

Can be worked around. You can set up a script to mirror it daily or set a slave database in a different, unrelated host that mirrors the live database in real time.

I don't know of other Nazi pedo rape sites. 8chan obviously wasn't able to survive.

Yeah, we had cron jobs to do that, but it means you're using your bandwidth on that. Prq.se gave us a generous allotment of bandwidth, though, for a pretty reasonable price. I guess it was too good to last, though.

Look up the hosts of controversial web sites. Ask whether they are interested in hosting your web site.

Right. Shouldn’t be much if you use incremental copy like rsync.

What happened?

Yeah, we weren't using that. Guess we didn't think of it or something.

We need tech support to repair the damage Zesto did (basically we need an OS reinstall, which is supposed to set us back 200 SEK; not too bad, in the big scheme of things), but as often happens, we can't get a reply from Fredrik, the guy who handles support tickets. We're also locked out of the kundcenter which means we can't even pay our server bill, which is gonna come due in about a week.

Note that when backing up databases you should make a snapshot using your DBMS and backup that snapshot or stop the database daemon, backup the cold files, then start the daemon again. Copying the files while they are being written to runs the risk of data corruption.

Is it a VPS or a dedicated server? If it is a VPS you should be able to mount a disk image in the control panel and reinstall it yourself or reset it to a clean state then restore your software and data from a backup.

Yeah, I was just using mysqldump.

It's a VPS. The capabilities of the kundcenter are pretty limited; I think they have to do the OS reinstall for us, which is why they offer it as a service they charge for.

We should try to keep illegal content out of this site, i value the contunued existence of this forum over your so called "free speech". I may also delete posts for other reasons and if you have questions/remarks about that you should send a private message to me or bring it up elsewhere outside this forum.

Well, it's a good practice, when making any high effort post, to copy-paste and save it elsewhere (e.g. I usually email them to myself). There was one last thread I created on RGIF, that I didn't save elsewhere because it was on my own site, and I figured it was going to get backed up in the daily backup anyway; unfortunately that was the day Zesto deleted everything so it's lost forever. I don't see it indexed on Bing or Google either. Too bad.

By the way, @Admin a middle ground is to have a secret sub-forum where stuff that's kinda edgy won't be available for people to go around reporting. When people file a report with the host, they usually give them a URL, and the person adjudicating the report will go to that URL to see if the report is legit. If the general public doesn't have access then it's not gonna be possible to verify that the report isn't full of shit. Screencaps of secret content can be faked, or the content could've been taken down for all the webhost knows, so they're usually not going to regard that as actionable, I'm thinking.

Incelocalypse had a pedocels section that people had infiltrated and posted screencaps of, but what got RU-Center to take us down was the stuff posted outside that section, that was viewable to the general public.

A web host can easily see the content by querying the database directly or logging the content of the served pages.

They would have to know which database to look at, and the structure of the database, to know where to find it, and ascertain that it isn't just a record of deleted content (not everything deleted is hard-deleted).

Logging the content of served pages, idk about. Sounds more like a theoretical issue; I've never had that be the cause of why I got shut down.

That is not very hard. Relational databases are self-documenting to some extent because of table and column names and data types.

Right. That would require specific knowledge of the forum software.

Did they tell you the technical reason they found out when they shut you down?

Here's the email they sent:

@Leucosticte I see. (((Cloudflare))) reported you. Why did you hire them? Cloudflare is known to actively censor content they do not like; they are SJWs. It happened with Daily Storemer, 8ch and possibly others. I would not hire them at all because they are not trustworthy and because they are accumulating too much power. They will behave as gatekeepers of the Internet for as long as people let them.

Idk, we thought that RU-Center was going to protect our free speech. Their policies are split up among many different pages so it was easy to overlook the policy prohibiting certain kinds of content, but the prohibitions were kinda ambiguous anyway.

Did you hire Cloudflare separately or is it subcontracted by RU-Center?

It was separate. We knew they'd cucked on The Daily Stormer but we probably figured, since it had only happened with that one site, maybe it wasn't going to happen again.

We also, btw, tried working with BitMitigate when we first got started on prq.se later that year, but we had an unpleasant experience with them. We took a hit to our site reliability (getting a lot of bad gateway errors), although I think FiC thought the problem was on our end. All I know is, when we got rid of BitMitigate, in many cases those problems went away. We used to have two domains, weebs.fun and weebs.is, and a lot of times the site would be accessible through the .fun domain that wasn't behind BM, but wouldn't work with the .is that was behind it.
