There is obviously a lot of people who do want something specialized for gaming that "just works" but if that can be provided by something else than PS5/xbox people will be very much interested in that.

I have even seen people call the Rog Ally a console which is questionable but maybe the term "console" will shift it's meaning towards basically any full system that is made mainly for gaming with software made for that purpose.

Looking at traditional non-portable consoles they are not actually doing to well with PS5 struggling to outsell PS4 and the new xbox consoles selling worse than xbox one x, this despite being much stronger compared to PC in terms of performance (especially for the price).

It will be very hard for any company besides sony, nintendo or microsoft to be successful in the traditional console market since any other company would have to start from square 1 in terms of library. PS5 can for example play almost all PS4 games resulting in a huge library.

If you instead make something that playes PC games you will start by a huge library from day 1 which will make people willing to actually buy the hardware.

And a lot of the more casual crows are simply playing on their phones.

Current convenience issues with PC gaming
You can get a prebuild PC by paying a premium but if you actually want to get the most for your money you kinda need to build yourself and put effort into selecting the right parts for you.

There is also the bullshit you have to deal with thanks to windows.

To get the best performance you also need to do overclocking which is can be rather tricky in the case of DDR5

while the ROG phone does have air triggers, it fails as a gaming console due to most decent games being freemium, where winning is a function of how much money one pays.

people are boycotting the Xbox now due to woke agendas in their games. non woke games are being rejected from the console.

PS5 offers movie like games more than actual games, and overall has a weak selection of games.

the switch attach(Nintendo Switch 2) is said to be developed.

if you have a mac you would need to install crossover to play anything pretty much.

the steam deck is also an option, tho it's not quit there yet in terms of carrying AAA games.

It was a mistake by nintendo to ditch motion controls for the wiiu (you could still use the old wiimote for some games though but that didn't come with the console).

The legion go does have something similar to the detachable joycons but you cannot actually use the separately, you have to reattach them to something and have that something communicate with the PC.

BTW, is there a fighter jet game you recommend?
I tried finding one for a while but all the results are poisoned by soy faced paid influencers.

PS5 was held back early on due to severe shortages but PC was also held back.

They probably would have been ahead of PS4 if they had managed to make more of them early on when the demand was higher, now the specs are getting dated and it isn't as strong against PC anymore in terms of hardware (for its price).
