The middle ground fallacy

The middle ground position when it comes to the holocaust is only killing 3 million jews, that would still be insanity. Another position is not killing jews at all but that is also the incorrect position, the correct policy would have been to use the jews for breeding (forced pregnancies, etc) but this is a very rare position and not even radial anti-nazis hold that frequently.

The correct transgender position isn't "let's let people transition if they have severe dysphoria". The correct transgender position is involuntary HRT.

The correct position with regard to teen pregnancies is to push for more teen pregnancies and consider forced breeding.

In the case of psychiatric drugs you are best off avoiding them completely considering they at best only help short term. The correct position with regard to psychiatry is complete abolition, there is nothing there worth preserving.

Commercial products
Often a company screw up really badly resulting in their product being a complete disaster and there is no real way to defend it in any way.

Of course in some cases their are legitimate reasons to buy a product (such as PS4 vs one X or ps3 vs 360) but often there really isn't but then if you point that out you will be accused of being a fanboy of their competitor even if you do not even own any product from said competitor.

The median voter theorem
If everyone is voting then candidate closest to the middle (even when it isn't popular) will be more likely to win

In the real world however not everyone will bother to vote so you might actually get more votes taking on a more radical position and thus getting your base fired up (to they will vote and convince others to also vote).
