Were the Mormons really that violent? I mean, they did have an army, but any group trying to establish their own country needs an army. The U.S. has practiced monogamy and has always been violent.

As for Mongols and Muslims, those are non-whites, so of course they'd be violent.

The US also became successful, having a violent population will not prevent you from having a civilization, people will not rebel against a government/system they like.

Yeah, if the Muslim world were able to successfully vanquish Israel and the west, people would look at them as the vanguard of civilization rather than a bunch of barbaric towelheads. The headtowel would be viewed as the symbol of civilization, kinda like a suit and tie.

It really just depends on who's able to come up with a bunch of scientific, technological, and cultural advancements; Mises pointed out that the Ottoman Empire didn't accomplish a lot, despite their conquests, which I don't know the truth of but we don't hear too much about them in history class.

Technological progress does not always result in evolutionary success, you also need to have a culture that is in line with what makes sense from a darwinian perspective.
