If a dude and a chick have a long-distance relationship, one of them will need to move to be with the other. That means quitting their education, or job, or whatever they're doing, to start a new life somewhere else.
If they both want to have equal power, how will they do that? Whoever has to move is going to abandon their professional and social network and disrupt the path they were on. They'll have to meet new people and get acclimated to being somewhere else. The easiest way to do that is to just be a chick who has no other expectations being placed on her besides staying home, preparing meals, cleaning the house, and taking care of the kids, which can be done anywhere and doesn't depend on being in any particular geographical community, aside from it being the one where one's spouse lives.
I knew a dude who based his geographical and career moves on accommodating his wife's career, and suffice to say, that didn't end too well for him. He's in some dead-end special education "teaching" job while she's a university professor who thinks he's a loser in comparison to her. They have two kids, and she comments to him about how sometimes she feels like she has three kids, with him around. She said whenever he's ready to give her divorce papers, she's ready to sign them.
I just kinda laugh to myself now when I think back on all those emails he used to send me, about how you can have a good relationship as long as you love each other, and the most important thing for him to look out for was her happiness, etc. It's more tuition from tragedy. https://illimitablemen.com/2016/01/15/tuition-from-tragedy-bens-story/
She still stays with him, though, I think because his parents are pretty well-off and he's probably due to receive a nice inheritance when they kick the bucket, which she can benefit from.
