The problem is, the way that you give someone power and autonomy is to turn them into a man. You put them through the training that you would give a man, to teach him how to be self-sufficient and give orders and be tough and all that. You teach him manly skills, and you encourage him to not be a coward.
So, in trying to get women to be powerful too, we put them through the same process of masculinizing them. We told them, "No male institution is off-limits to women." The upshot of that is, male institutions either have to be feminized (e.g. if it's a military training program, the standards have to be relaxed to accommodate women, and therefore when it's time for combat, we'll have to take into account that the combatants are not up to the physical standards of the strongest men out there), or women have to be masculinized somehow.
If women are going around behaving like men, men are either going to need to man up to be even more manly than they are, so as to out-man the chick; or they'll need to switch roles and be the woman. They'll need to submit to her and take care of the domestic role. Problem is, a chick will tend to despise an effeminate, submissive guy; she'll go back to her natural instincts and try to get him to be the man, or look for a guy who can and will be the man, because she wants to be taken care of and ruled over (but only by a guy who's superior). Meanwhile, his instinct to try to rule over her will also assert itself, leaving him frustrated if he can't.
By the time we've put through a chick all this training to be a man, whether it's sending her through basic training or sending her to college, she's in a position where she might actually intimidate guys out there, in the sense that they might worry she's going to have the upper hand in the relationship, in that she can say, "You're a loser compared to me, because I've done xyz and you haven't." I mean, do the math; if more women these days are going to college than men, that means after all the college-educated men are matched up with all the college-educated women, there will still be women left over who are more qualified, in terms of credentials, than any man they could get with.
They'll probably end up as spinsters, because guys are generally not gonna want some chick who's more accomplished than they are, who's going to lord it over them and act superior because of it; and even if they do want a chick like that because they're like, "Cool, she can provide most of the financial support for the family," it simply won't work out. She'll view him as entertainment, a gigolo essentially, or sperm donor maybe, and dump him when she's tired of him. It'll be like these films you see where there's some Roman aristocratic chick watching some half-naked dude struggle in the arena, till he gets pinned down and she's like, "Finish him." It's all just amusement for them; they barely even view these guys as human.
Or if, during the course of all her training for the work world or whatnot, she's spread her legs to 20 different guys, guys might also feel intimidated by that, because they probably haven't fucked 20 girls, so that gives her an advantage. She can be like, "19 other guys were better in bed than you are" while he can't say, "19 other girls were better in bed that you are." So a lot of guys will steer clear of committing to these chicks, for fear she's going to become dominant and put him through hell, trying to get him to rise to a standard he doesn't feel like rising to or isn't capable of rising to.
You can't have chicks being the ones with the power, without turning them into men. We could theoretically just say, "Okay, we'll have chicks continue to be really girly, but they'll be empowered to pick their mates." But part of being girly is to be childish and timid and make silly decisions (or be undecisive) and be emotional. That doesn't really go hand-in-hand with making wise choices about a mate. They're going to choose the most brutish guy to complement their femininity, which is great if you're that guy.
Basically it means, if you want the girly girl, you should join the infantry or something and learn how to kill with your bare hands, because girly chicks will sense your ability to do that, and choose you. But not every guy in a civilization is going to be that type of über-killer; we're gonna need some nerdy guys, and they need to be able to get tail too. So, that's where patriarchy comes in; since the bulk of men are just ordinary joe schmoe betas as opposed to a hypermasculine dude with T levels that are through the roof, fathers end up giving their daughters to a regular dude.
