CGpeers claims to offer amnesty for people who bought account/invite there
They didn't however go into details such as what that new cgpeers account would actually entail and if they would still forward information about all this to other private. It's fairly likely that the ones coming forward admitting to this will still get blacklisted by other private trackers.

CGPeers NOW offers AMNESTY for bought accounts!

At CGPeers, we strongly oppose the practice of selling accounts for profit. Not only does it take advantage of unsuspecting buyers, but it also leads to multiple re-sold accounts that cause numerous issues—such as inactive members who fail to seed properly.

For many years, we’ve simply disabled sold accounts; however, we’ve decided to change our strategy. To help counteract account selling, we plan to make it easier for new users to join CGPeers legitimately. But before we implement these changes, we want to extend an opportunity to anyone who previously purchased a stolen or otherwise illegitimate account or invitation, offering them a genuine CGPeers account.

To facilitate this, we’ve launched an amnesty program. For more information about the program and how to participate, please visit:

Beware of Scammers Selling Stolen Accounts or Invites
If you’ve purchased an account, I strongly urge you to act now. It’s only a matter of time before your account gets banned. Scammers will eventually run out of stolen accounts, and they don’t deserve to profit off people like us.

Worse still, many scammers sell the same account to multiple buyers. Eventually, one of those buyers will come clean to the staff, take responsibility, and be granted a legitimate account. The rest will lose their chance.

C45 has stated:

"I will replace one active stolen account with one legitimate account."
But be warned - this promise won’t last forever. It can be revoked at any time. If you’re still seeing this message, the promise still stands.

CGPeers has been running for over 14 years with minimal donations, while scammers continue to profit by hacking and reselling accounts. Even if you change your password, scammers often keep lists of emails and request password recoveries to rip you off again.

Don’t let yourself fall into this cycle. Stop supporting scammers and do the right thing. Reach out and cooperate with the official CGPeers staff on IRC - they’re here to help (remember: english only!).

Spread the word. Take responsibility. Break free from scammers.

How to Protect Your Account from Being Stolen
This applies to both CGPeers and CGPersia Forum.

We strongly urge you to check your system for any potential malware that may have been downloaded—whether from here or any other site. Hackers often install spyware, keyloggers, or other malicious software on your system to steal your credentials.

Do not ignore this warning. If your account gets compromised, we may not be able to recover it in the future, even if you prove to be 100% legitimate. This issue needs to stop, and it’s up to all of us to fight back.

Take action now to secure your system.

r/trackers is full of freeloaders
They want to be able to just keep downloading without having to actually contribute anything. It's understandable but then you run into the issue of missing out on a lot of content that never get uploaded to the site in the first place, animebytes is currently having that exact problem resulting in it not covering much more in terms of content than the public tracker nyaa (animebytes mainly offers better quality).

ratio-poll-184.png

But in the end people will still want to go where the content is even if they bitch and moan about actually having to upload.

PTP to start doing treebans over people inviting people they don't know well enough
Honestly you probably shouldn't accept any user invite to that site going forward. Actually it was probably a bad idea long before this new policy.

BaltimoreFilmores wrote:

PTP Invite Rules Refreshed

On the subject of invite privileges, we've started to tighten the screws on some invite-related issues we've been experiencing on the site. Namely, those using invite-centric forums to trade and buy invites, as well as those performing giveaways (GAs) of PTP invites. As such, the invite rules have been updated to 2024 standards with regards to places you may not offer our invites, as well as some other bits added for clarity's sake. Read the invite rules here.

To note a specific change: you may not invite "internet friends" you have only conversed with in the public eye (such as Discord servers, Telegram channels, Twitter, Reddit, and QQ groups). Doing so will get you and your invite tree banned.

If you have ever used an invite-centric site, given away/traded invites for PTP or any other reputable private trackers, or even bought an invite; now is your opportunity to come forward for the consideration of amnesty depending on how serious the offense is. Conversely, those who do not come forward now and who are caught later on will be judged much more harshly, which will likely lead to you permanently losing your account. To come forward, send a staff PM.

TopShelfPrivilege

PassThePopcorn has strict invite rules that you must follow. These rules will be strictly enforced. Violation of these rules will put your account at risk and we may encourage other trackers to ban you as well.
A good way to determine if you trust an internet friend is this hypothetical test: would you be comfortable sending them $300 right now? If yes, then you can probably invite them as long as you abide by the invite rules below. If you would not be comfortable sending them that amount of money, then you should not invite them to PTP. Additionally, they are not your friend if you have only known them for a month or two, no matter how much you talk. You are responsible for anyone that you invite!
While the amount of rules surrounding invites we have may seem scary, it is unfortunately necessary to combat the swarms of malicious actors that attempt to abuse our site for personal gain. That being said, if you have concerns whether someone you'd like to invite meets our rules (chances are, they probably do), please send a Staff PM before sending them an invite. We'll be happy to clarify for you.
Direct quote from the rules page about invites on PTP which was updated less than 24 hours ago. Effectively if you have someone willing to invite you, they should ask staff if they are unsure if it's okay. Also in doing that, it shows they are willing to be honest with staff and get permission before just doing something potentially harmful to the community.

vintologi24 wrote:

I think the 300$ figure they mention is too low to be honest. You need to be able to trust them a lot more than that (like 5000$).

People on private trackers aren't as desirable as people on them think they are
Sure there are going to be some people who are desperate to get in but can't (for whatever reason) but most people don't actually care about that.

There are plenty of stories where someone invited their friend(s) to a private tracker only to see them disabled later due to them not actually using it.

It's generally not enough to get an account, you need to actually maintain it. On some trackers you can get immunity from inactivity pruning but that generally requires you to donate or to upload to the site.

If you actually want to join say PTP badly you are very likely to eventually succeed in that. It's not actually hard to become torrent master on RED, sure it takes some work but it really isn't that difficult work.

With anime i have noticed that most people don't even want to bother with nyaa, they opt for some shitty streaming site instead.

And outside of TV/movies joining the top trackers takes significantly less work.

RED: you can get official invite directly via interview.

GGn: easy to join from RED (power user is enough).

Animebytes: after a year on RED the official requirement is dropped to power user which is very easy to get (i assume most applying as PU after 1 year still get accepted).

You do need to be elite (and have 6 months old account) on RED to apply for EMP membership making EMP harder but that tracker simply isn't very good, i got a much better impression of h-p2p which is now defunct. There is also a lot of material on free porn sites you can easily download with yt-dlp making empornium the overall worse option.

Why i don't really want to join any of the 'top' TV/movie trackers
Earlier i didn't really give them much attention due to still being far from meeting their requirements and them not really having the type of content i am generally looking for.

But then i realized that they probably do have at least some content that would be of interest for me even if in general it's not what i am looking for. I ended up doing some more research on them to see if it would be worthwhile to join any of them.

movies-private-trackers-no-background-girl.png

private-trackers-tv.png

HDB aka HDBits
seems like a great site for heavy users since they do not have any H&R rules and give inactivity pruning immunity to donors and VIP users.

But it's not actually that appealing if you are not looking to use a site regularly due to VIP requiring a lot of work to get and other people being required to download 1GB/week on average (not counting the freeleech portion so it's more like 2GiB/week).

Them being one of the hardest trackers to join from RED actually makes them more interesting for me so i might still join at some point if i get more interested in TV/movies other than anime.

Seems like the best option for me if i manage to get VIP there. I don't like using anything that isn't the best.

HDB number of torrents per category
Movies: 213267
TV: 123423
XXX: 11270
Documentary: 31945
Music: 10062
Sport: 12984
Misc/Demo: 1412
Audio Track: 5255

Movies ~100k
TV Series ~20k

Main downside i have found is them being limited to 720p or higher which excludes a lot of older material you might be interested in. There is of course other sites you can use for lower res material but none of those sites seem particularly good (except maybe the next one for movies):

PTP aka passthepopcorn
It actually seems to be a pretty good tracker with the main issue i see being H&R rules. Unfortunately their content isn't very appealing to be since it's only movies so i would still need another tracker to get TV slop i am interested in watching (my current trackers are hit & miss for that).

It seems fairly issue to get immune from inactivity pruning on PTP. You can simply encode 3 existing movies and upload that to become power user, you do not actually have to upload anything new in terms of content there.

The main thing they have which i might be interested in is the audio portion of their movies (which you cannot always get from RED) but i could probably also use HDB or BHD for that. Unfortunatily with encodes they recommend lossy audio for movies with surround sound (1280 to 1636 Kbps E-AC3 for 7.1 and 768 to 1024 Kbps for 5.1) making them a bad choice if you are mainly interested in the audio portion of movies (remuxes still have fully lossless audio of course).

This is the only tracker i have been offered an invite to by someone i know. I got the wrong impression that it wasn't too hard to get a user invite to them but you actually need the elite user class there (50 uploads, etc) to get any invite there.

BHD aka beyondHD
For some reason i have a pretty negative impression about this site without really knowing why. Something is telling me to avoid them even though it kinda makes sense for me to join them at the first glance.

There doesn't seem to be much of a reason to actually contribute to the site since they basically have the same inactivity pruning system for everyone. I did not see anything about them giving H&R or inactivity pruning immunity to their best users and that's simply wrong.

BTN aka BroadcasTheNet
They have hit & run rules instead of ratio requirements which is not actually what you want. You also have to donate to get immunity from inactivity pruning. Only TV (no movies).

Why most needs to be kept out of private trackers
While private trackers are important for preservation and being able to access niche media it's not really something we want too many people to have access too.

While i get stuff for free other people still have to pay for it and if people can just pirate they are probably less willing to actually pay money to support the content i am looking for. They should pay for shitty streaming or whatever while i enjoy superior bluray quality for free.

A site that is too easy to access will get a big target on it's back, that happened to thepiratebay. The site being somewhat difficult to access also helps keeping out bad actors you don't want to be there.

Furthermore private trackers require people to put in the work required to keep them good. Sites that push people towards actually contributing (uploading/seeding) tend to have better content and better seeded torrents.

Elitism is actually a good thing. We need more of that.

Are the RED admin geniuses?
I do find myself agreeing more with their policies than the policies of other private trackers but there are definitely things i would have done differently.

LaidbackENT wrote:

The genius of REDs admins
I had a revelation as to the genius of what RED is. RED isn't a typical tracker. It is an archival project, and its policies essentially recruit you into this effort. Think about it. Seeding will not get you BP like in other trackers. Because of this one policy, it forces you to upload to gain that buffer. What if you have never uploaded before? Well, little did you know, when you studied for the interview, you were already being initiated in the into the arts of creating the perfect rip.

So to gain this buffer, you learn and begin uploading content. You scour your shelves for any material that you have. After you have exhausted your own supplies, you begin to reach out to friends and families to find the most obscure content to archive.
But what if noone downloads your content? Not on RED. Content that meets the criteria for a perfect rip is automatically snatched, granting you that precious buffer.

As you continue ripping and uploading, you find your relatives crates and crates of vinyls that haven't been touched in years. You now begin looking into the process of digitizing vinyls. Why? Is it for that sweet buffer? Or is there some kind of joy in this new effort you have undertaken? Regardless, this would not have happened, if you were giving BP for simply seeding. You have now have been recruited into this archiving project that spans the east west north and south.

In conclusion, I believe the policies makers of RED are genius. Simply because they have probably initiated the greatest music archiving effort on the globe by tweaking the policies of the common tracker.

/end rant

vintologi24 wrote:

They didn't actually tweak it that much. It was the replacement for what dot cd.

RED did opt for less freeleech via events but they do instead give out a lot of freeleech tokens which have been more generous than what what offered. The what freeleech tokens were limited to 1GB while the RED tokens goes all the way up to 5GiB (was only recently icreased from 2GiB).

RED does still do a better job to push people towards uploading.

RED introduced a freeload system where you upload only counts if you were seeded said torrents prior to the event and they applied it mainly to lower seeded torrents. This is definitely one of the better systems to incentivize seeding of low seeded torrents.

But giving out 125 freeleech tokens just as a gift is probably not ideal if you want to push people towards uploading. They could for example have required people to get to 20 perfect flacs before they get those tokens.

I think the hardcore focus on uploads is archaic and doesn’t really do much for long term retention of content.
It's not "archaic" it's what other trackers should be doing as well. I have tried plenty of trackers and most of them have a very limited library making it pointless to even join them in the first place.

RED has more seeders/torrent than OPS (21 million on total for RED).

They didn't even get to experience the full cabal ban. They never got an account to begin with, they simply spent money for nothing.

Inviteh*wk
So I’ve been on a bit of a journey. As some of you might know InviteHawk is this website that claims to sell private tracker invites and other stuff. One of the main people running it is someone called J. Stash. They’ve got a ton of fake reviews, fake profiles, Discord and Facebook accounts, rules and guidelines, and even a “mediator” system for purchases over $150. They accept crypto and PayPal (friends and family), and at first glance the site looks legit especially to someone who doesn’t know any better. But it’s definitely not.

When you sign up they make you write an introduction about yourself. There are moderators and different sellers on the site and they’re all doing the same thing scamming people. I had a feeling it might be a scam but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I even asked J. Stash directly about the scam posts I’d seen on Reddit. He responded:

"I understand your concerns. To clarify, I’m not sure what you’ve come across on the internet, but there are often misleading posts and rumors. As with any niche forum or business, there are always individuals who might try to spread false information, especially when it comes to platforms like ours. Tracker staff and certain groups within the community sometimes have negative opinions about our operations, which can fuel these rumors. If you take a look at similar forums or communities, you’ll likely see similar allegations directed at other admins or platforms as well. However, we focus on our own work and community, and we’ve always maintained a reputation for honesty and reliability. We’ve been running successfully for a long time because we don’t get distracted by unfounded accusations or online gossip. At the end of the day, we stand by our service and community, and our track record speaks for itself. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask—I’m more than happy to address them. Kind Regards, J.Stash"

I paid him half of the money and waited a few weeks he banned my account. I made two new accounts and started digging around. Honestly I’m pretty sure the messages I got were written by ChatGPT. I’m not upset about it but I think J. Stash assumed I’d be too embarrassed to post this online.

Anyways, go on and tell me how much I deserved this. It’s all good. lol

I think what's going on is that people are simply not willing to sell invites for their business model to work so they end up having to basically scam people.

Most people are not going to sell out their integrity for a small amount of money like that and the few that would be willing to that tends to be deterred by the rather draconian measures tracker staff are willing to resort to.

People often have friends that they have invited or memberships on other trackers. Most people are don't want to screw over their friends and most people do not want to get permanently banned from over 30 trackers (including ones they have not yet joined).

Why milkie is underrated
Sure in terms of torrents that are actually seeded they are not super great (similar to TPB) but they do have the advantage of you not having to do anything to maintain your account there.

It's a semi-private tracker where you can actually join at any time.

https://milkie.cc/auth/signup/General2022

Your account will not get disabled because you didn't bother to actually use the site for like a year.

You will not have to deal with H&R rules.

Them not enforcing ratio at all is probably bad but it has the advantage of you not having to worry about that.

Lesser talked about issues with private trackers
Here are some things i have noticed that people often don't talk about.

Trackers doesn't properly track upload or download
Private trackers relies on data reported by the torrent clients people use and they way this is reported is very unreliable. The ones running trackers seem to want to keep people in the dark about this to stop cheating but that also means that people are unknowingly going to do things that causes data not to be properly reported to the tracker (or it gets reported but the tracker doesn't accept it, i don't know the details).

I did read some comments about qbittorrent in particular being bad in this regard.

To avoid issues: keep the torrent running for 3+ hours without interruption after the last activity.

Peer scraping, etc
Due to the bittorrent protocol not being very secure bad actors have sometimes been able to steal peers and download from them. This is also a privacy issue since that can leak your ip adress to people you really cannot trust.

Everyone on the tracker can see your ip if you have uploaded something without doing so anonymously (very easily if you are the only seeder). But allowing uploaders to be anonymous isn't exactly ideal to begin with for other reasons so it makes sense for trackers like RED not to allow that.

Often no tracker has what you are looking for
Sure you can try getting access to more trackers but what you will find out is that a lot of the trackers simply do not have what you are looking for. Then you might try some other tracker only to find the same thing there.

Often the better trackers have quality standards that completely bars some stuff from being uploaded. One example of this is music directly from wii/gamecube games, that's something you can rather easily rip yourself if you have the rom but you cannot really upload that to any decent private tracker since the audio format wii and gamecube uses is a not widely supported lossy format.

The request systems rarely work particularly well
Even on RED (which has a harder economy than most trackers) the request system isn't actually that effective at getting people to upload if they have to spend money.

On RED you can probably get it filled simply by making the bounty big enough but that can be well above 50 GiB unless you are lucky and someone already have that CD.

For trackers with easier economies even much larger bounties are unlikely to actually work. You can offer over 1TiB of upload credit but that's not going to be enough to make someone pay say 60$ for bluray disks required to fill the request.

On RED you also only have 1 hour after your upload to fill the request as the uploaded and if someone else fills it before that you will get absolutely nothing except the first time where you get the "One man's trash" reward. On most other sites the uploader is quaranteed at least half.

Unhelpful forums, etc
You can try asking for help via forum/irc but chances are you are not actually going to get the help you were looking for there.

Generally you are better off asking for help on other spaces. There are exceptions of course.

You are more likely to get use out of forums/irc/DMs for tracker-related topics (such as whether or not a torrent can be trumped) but for other stuff you are probably better off using some other site.

Your best bet for getting help is generally via their IRC chat, you are less likely to get much of a response elsewhere (if you get it at all it will typically be after significant waiting time).

You can be stuck in limbo if you apply via official recruitment
After you have applied to join some other tracker all you can do is wait. You don't know how long it is doing to take.

If you try applying via some other recruiter via another tracker you will risk severe consequences since that can be viewed as trying to get an alt account there.

So you need to check in advance that the recruiter actually logs into the site and then simply hope for the best.
If you do not include everything I ask for in your message, it will not be processed. I will not send you a message saying that you forgot something
I was really paranoid about that. I checked multiple times out of paranoia as i kept waiting for my invite. I had to force myself to be patient which ended up working out in the end.

Getting good information about trackers in advance is difficult
I noticed when doing research about TV/movie trackers i hadn't joined that it was difficult to get good information about them and i am still not sure if i should join any of them (BHD, HDB, etc).

I had more than once instance where my impulsivity got the better of me and i ended up joining some tracker i really didn't need at that time and then you end up having to choose between getting disabled for inactivity or maintaining yet another tracker account you don't really have any use for.

A mix between frustration and joy/excitement
The frustration comes with dealing with the nonsense you have to put up with, nobody having uploaded what you wanted and your requests not being filled.

The joy comes when you actually find something special on a private tracker, something you cannot get anywhere else.

Getting to a better userclass or joining yet another mediocre tracker does not bring joy or excitement though. Sure it's nice to have power/elite TM on RED or whatever but it's not really what is going to feel that nice when you finally get there.

The truth about "encodes"
It is very possible to repackage the content on a bluray disk without any loss of quality. When the only change is the packaging it's called "remux" and is generally what i download for anime.

I have seen a lot of posts on 4chan claiming "encodes are better than remuxes" but in reality that is rarely the case and even high quality encodes will have visible artifacts. Usually there isn't even anything for an encode to fix in the first place and the only advantage with encoding it will be smaller size (which really doesn't matter today anyway given the current price of storage).

It can look the same for one part of the video (which can be cherrypicked to make it look like there was no loss in quality) but that's not going to be consistent. You can change encoding settings but that can only do so much and there is no clear best option to go for. A setting that makes one part of the video better will likely make another part worse.

And unless stated otherwise you can assume the one who did the encode did not use particularly great settings.

H265 is extremily slow to encode with the highest quality setting (CPU, placebo) so people are going to compromise on the quality in order to shorten the encoding time.

I have an i9 13900IKF and that is actually too slow for encoding to be honest (im part due to me not botherint to replace the cooling paste).

X265, placebo: 1 fps
X264, placebo: 10 fps

I have noticed on animebytes that most encodes are done by some release group rather than people on the site and their encoding guide isn't very good. You also typically do not see before and after photos for their encodes so it's probably a lot worse than people assume.

Redditor got disabled on TL due to having internet issues
Then when they finally got their internet working they refused to enable his account again due to his upload speed only being 10 Mbps.

Turns out that this is an issue specific to people who join via their open signups. I don't have all the details though and it's typically hard to get those details before you sign up to the site. I don't remember seeing any warning telling me that i would be required to download within 30 days or whatever when i was checking out their signup form earlier (i never actually signed up due to a PTP user telling me that the site was bad, seems like they were right).

You do have the option of joining via a user invite from the RED invite forum hoping you are not going to get treebanned. I have also seen info saying they are doing official recruitment on BTN but why would you join TL if you can gain access to sites like BTN?

pacmans-brother wrote:

Torrentleech disabled to to inactivity (ISP issues in my area) cant get back in due to upload speeds.
So I got into torrentleech during open signups in december but couldnt really download anything until now cause my whole area had a lot of issues with ISP infrastructure.

I logged in once in a while to see whats new and what im gonna download and seed once ISP fixes all the issues.

Now one important thing to note is that since my area still doesnt have fiber my upload speed is capped at 10mbps-max 15mbps but I can leave seeding day and night and because of that I always make sure to check if the tracker has any minimum upload speeds before I join, in TL case I read ALL the rules and there was not a SINGLE mention of any minimum upload speeds.

Recently my ISP has fixed all the issues and I decided its finally time to download a torrent and seed it only to be greeted by "account disabled" upon login, contacted TL support on IRC and explained the situation upon which they asked me to provide speedtest results and told me I cant get back in due to low upload speed when thats literally not mentioned on any of their rules.

According to their support apperently those minumum upload speeds are only for accounts that got disabled for some reason.

Fuck TL, they let users in with super low uploads (I know people with less than 5mbps upload who are still there) but enforce some minimums when someones accounts gets disabled for inactivity because of something user couldnt control.

OPS leaked sensitive info too all visitors (not just members)
I have not found good information regarding what was actually leaked but this is another failure they had.
anyone getting a text dump of what seems like sensitive info at the orpheus website? i just checked & you dont need to be logged in to see it...
confirmed here too. hope everything's ok. leaked user hash salt, sql/gzpg passwords, etc.
Members of the site also encountered various issues when they tried using the site.

They did stop the leak at least but that info has already spread to various places so you might have to change your password.

Update: OPS is back up and running and they claim that no sensitive information leaked
Sysop has released a postmortem https://orpheus.network/blog.php?id=86
tl;dr, combined gazelle and PHP fuckery along with a few decisions made years ago brewed the perfect storm of circumstances for this to happen, no user information was in danger of being expoded, all exposed secrets have been rotated, the secrets realistically couldn't have been used as they'd require access to their servers, safeguards have been put back in place to make sure this doesn't happen again.

I understand that some trackers have rules about seeding and ratios, but I think those rules are not very important. Downloading is the main thing, and I am excellent at that. I promise to download a lot of files from BLU and share with my whole family, or people on the dedicated shitting streets of Mumbai.

Thank you very much. I look forward to your positive response, sir.

People on 4chan don't like lower tier trackers while those trackers are often shilled on redddit.

OPS would be even worse if it wasn't for RED
One of the reason why OPS get's away with having a dysfunctional economy is that a lot of uploads there are simply re-uploads from RED.

So it doesn't really serve as a backup in the case something bad would happen to RED since if RED goes down OPS would begin to work significantly worse unless/until staff their somehow fixed their economy (which is hard to do once it's already dysfunctional).

komata_kya wrote:

Truth is, OPS wouln't be even half as good if it wasn't for RED. Just look at how many torrent are just crossposts from RED. People might get a wrong idea where they think OPS works better than it actually is, because it is being subsidized by RED uploaders. Like what's the goal of a hard economy, when OPS is easy and it works fine, not realizing REDs hard economy actually helps OPS.

vintologi24 wrote:

Of course but getting things easily without effort will always be appealing to people.

Doing things like ripping CDs take effort.

Going over your old WHAT downloads to see if anything there can be uploaded to RED takes effort.

Fixing bad metadata tags manually takes effort.

Ripping from streaming services takes effort.

And we need people to do those things in order to have a good library of content. We need more uploads to RED, not less.

Why i don't argue with staff
If a site is incompetently run the only rational recourse is to migrate somewhere else once you are given that opportunity. Even if i don't care if they ban my account i am still not going to be overly confrontational, i will just let the site eventually die or become irrelevant (if it isn't already), i generally try to avoid joining sites like that in the first place.

And if staff is competent you will probably not have to argue with them in the first place.

Bad policies/decision from what i have seen is mostly an issue on lower quality trackers that you don't want to use anyway.

Example of bad policy is requiring that people fill out a form or reach a certain user-class before they can start uploading to the site. I don't see myself ever uploading anything to a site like that.

If you have some idea for how to make an already good site better you can try making a suggestion (if they have a system for that). On RED there was for example a suggestion to incentivize seeding of torrents that has few seeders and eventually staff implemented the freeload system (not the solution suggested but still a good system).

You can also of course have conversation with staff when appropriate. From my experience GGn and RED has good staff that will resolve issues when needed.

And if there is some promising upcoming site that has policies you like you can join and become an uploader to help them out.

I tried it on reddit, it didn't end well.
I did this for trackers that had some bad policies and none of them changed their site for the better afterwards, then i got banned from r/trackers (after being shadow-banned from posting).

I want other people to pay for the content i get for free
That's part of the reason why i don't seed on public trackers.

I do think it's important to archive content and there private trackers have a big role to play. It's not however something most people should be able to access since we want people to actually support the content we like.

That being said i don't think public torrent sites is the biggest problem in the case of anime, most people seem to use shitty illegal streaming sites instead riddled with intrusive ads.

I like being able to enjoy bluray remuxes of anime but that requires people paying for the blurays (until you can legally buy anime with the same or better audio and video quality).

I would be fine with all public trackers getting nuked (in addition to TL and IPT, etc), would probably be a good thing overall.

Redditor got treebanned from torrentleech
They are lucky they learned that lesson for a bad tracker instead of permanently getting banned from a good one due to accepting an invite from a stranger.

SirPancakesIII wrote:

Kicked from Torrentleech
Guess I learned a tough lesson. I logged in to torrentleech and my account was banned. It turns out the person I got an invite from on opensignups was trading.

Was a member for over a month and had 4TB+ of upload and ratio over 5. No invites used. Now I am permanently banned with no way to ever use the service again. I feel my account use clearly indicated my intentions as a user and I tried to explain that.

Guess I need to be a lot more careful about my invitee. Is there anything I can do? And if not are there other trackers anyone would reccomend looking into?

Edit: thanks for everyone's feedback. I'm gonna take a break but will use your suggestions to look into some other tracker options. I will also be a lot more careful about who I get invites from etc... Have a nice day.

redditor got their PTP account hacked
They didn't know why their account got disabled. Turned out they got their ass saved.

I was getting excited, how is that going to end.

Well they ended up getting their account back and everything. That's lucky since you are limited to one/account per life so no second chance if you screw up.

The filtering process
I have noticed how redditors often use "ableist" as something supposedly being bad when it really isn't. We want people to be capable and contribute.

In order to have a great tracker you need to filter out a lot of people.

0. People get filtered out due to not knowing about RED.
1. People unwilling to go through the process of doing a RED interview get's filtered out.
2. People who fail the RED interview gets filtered out.
3. People who don't upload 5+ torrents on RED get filtered out (or they fail to get 20GiB upload).
4. People get filtered out due to doing really stupid stuff to get banned or lose invite perms.
5. People are unable to join some trackers due to PU on RED not being enough.

I have mentioned RED to some people but i am not aware of anyone who has actually gone through to actually doing the interview, most give up at stage 1.

Some people get access to some site via invite only to later get disabled for inactivity due to not getting immunity from inactivity pruning (usually happens when people invite IRL friends).

RTT goes down in flames
It was never a good tracker of course but some people there were still in denial about it. For some reason all they did was to share rar files which is a pretty bad approach to be honest but i guess some people are going to defend that somehow.

Their mod has been active on reddit often defending staff on other trackers (even in cases where they seemed to be in the wrong mainly for other bad trackers). Now he himself got banned.

petrolcanRTT wrote:

So, I was banned...
Grab a drink of your choice and get comfortable ;)

So, for many years as staff at RTT I only knew of ck as the top person on site. I knew that there was someone higher up but they never let their presence be known and ck was left to run the site and makes whatever changes were deemed necessary including the TBdev codebase (which has obviously been heavily modified). It’s been that way since 2006.
Fast forward to October 2024 and a mysterious user is able to enter our staff IRC and it turns out that they are actually the site owner.
The story went along the lines of ck was struggling and was going to take a bit of a back seat. ck was offline for a few days so it took a while to corroborate that this was indeed the case.

The assurance from the owner, LuciousLion (LL from now on as I gag even when saying his name in my head!), was that nothing was going to change and that if anything was in need of change that we, as staff, would get an opportunity to talk it out, agree/disagree, offer suggestions and spot potential pitfalls like we’ve always done.

That’s not what happened. Sometime in November, a quadruple up donation drive was launched without warning. The best bit was that in fucking around with the codebase LL broke the donation system. Cue a flurry of activity in #help and the staff PMs were blowing up. All communication was done via site PM because LL was unable to set up IRC! PM tennis is no fun. We were told that it was a one off to support site infrastructure. The following week, maybe fortnight, we had another whereby our donation freeze packages got tweaked, again no prior knowledge and again a broken donation system and system notes that weren’t being recorded properly. Cue another flurry of user activity in IRC & PM.

PM tennis continued. During the month of December, it was the same shit. More forum posts followed more dismissal answers. I was basically told that if I didn’t back the site then the site wouldn’t back me. Not the first time my position would be threatened.
In January it would seem that I’d pissed LL off enough that he onboarded a ‘friend and right-hand man’ to take over. Only he ‘took over’ the LL account and the tone didn’t change much. So much so that in a series of four or five PMs I found my position as admin threatened once again and yet at the end, I was being offered the role of sysop if I were to back them.

Enter ShroomRaza, the ‘right hand man’. At least that was the nick he chose after I told him that I’d no longer converse with him under the LL nick. /me gags again

Like when LL came in, it started well. Assurances were given that we’d know about upcoming changes and that we’d have an opportunity to talk them through, you know, pitfalls etc.

Well, needless to say, that didn’t happen. Another donation drive. And another and another.
A few users in the forum piped up only to be told by LL or Shroom that they were wrong and not being spammed for donations (they really were).
Shroom tweaked the code so that staffers didn’t even get a notification or site PM when the next greatest thing was launched. We literally flew blind when users were asking questions. That remains a major fucking annoyance.
Then, in a complete surprise to all of us, EVIP paid for was launched. For those unaware, EVIP was a class reserved for ex-staffers and exceptional contributors to the site. Before launch we had 162 EVIPs.

The paid for program was on a 1- or 6-month basis. Fuckwit Shroom hadn’t told us about any of this. Turns out, by buying EVIP, you get nostats (again, usually reserved for ex-staff and special people). Couldn’t see an IP on those anymore so if they land in a banned country we’d not know. If the account got traded or sold, we’d not know.

Much forum posting about this making our staffing jobs much harder took far too long to get sorted out. Of course, in doing so, Shroom managed to expose his and LL’s IP addresses to staff as he ‘fixed’ it.

Of course, that wasn’t the only issue with EVIP. Now it could be bought. How do our ex-staffers and exceptional contributors get recognised now? I’ll be fair here, I asked for a Legendary user class to be created and it was done within a few days. https://ptpimg.me/0h1850.jpg
The site had a Christmas ‘raffle’ set up by LL with no input from us as staff. Winners were meant to be drawn on 28th Dec, they were eventually drawn on the 20th Jan.

The bulk of the winners haven’t been awarded prizes as yet (whatever today's date is) because Shroom made a forum post with a list of winners and saying contact him. It had to be pointed out to him that because of his class, he didn't have a PM button.
Previous raffle prizes were awarded automatically and users were notified by PM.
I brought this issue up on 15th Feb and it was ignored

22nd Feb

We’re a week on and this hasn't even been acknowledged let alone acted upon.
Easier at this point to just post a screenshot

https://ptpimg.me/be4i94.jpg

Anyway, most of the above was challenging, we had a ‘donation fixes’ thread in the staff forum that runs into pages. Kept getting told that it’s all fixed and working and then another user pops up to say otherwise.

Anyway, mid-February, there was talk of "RevoTT will have something better, cleaner, and much more simple coming right around the corner..." so obviously we asked what this meant and for an opportunity to talk it over.

Said opportunity nor information were forthcoming.

On the 19th Feb some 21000 previously banned/inactivity users get sent the email to join the RevoEmpire program. We as staff found this out on the day after. It was only then that we got to see a copy of the email that had been sent out.

Zero consultation as to how this should happen in respect of the ban reason, they’d get an email if we hadn’t set them as ‘reactivate never’. With the real bad guys that got banned we marked them as banned and the ‘reactivate’ thing was left untouched. I’m guessing that this was because it was assumed that a staffer would be looking at the information before them in order to establish whether a ban could be overturned. Guess the ‘system’ didn’t look for that eh?

Obviously, Feb 24th (your time zone may vary) marked a moment that reddit decided to run with it.

First post was from a banned country user https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1iy8ihl/revtt_mail/

The second and the one that gained more traction was from a user that has created multiple accounts and cheated on nearly every one of them https://

www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1iyi9g0/revolutiontt_has_a_brand_new_program/

What upsets me most about those posts are the ones shitting on u/N1mu3h. Yeah, sure, she wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but she was a shit hot gatekeeper. More than that, she’s a proper friend and I was stuck that I couldn’t reply to any of those posts in an attempt to tell posters to GFY or defend Nim (not that she actually needs defending!) for fear of stoking the embers once more.

Woke up on the morning of the 26th Feb to find an additional 68000 users had been enabled. Zero checks done.

Let me tell you, our banned country list was smoking! 🔥🔥🔥

We turned it into a competition as to who could find the trifecta of a banned country/trader/cheat.

Extra fake internet points were awarded for a dupe 😆

https://ptpimg.me/yce33m.jpg

(Bottom of that screenshot is cropped to remove an edit from Shroom about forum access removal.)
We as a staff team continued to try to put our users first but this was constantly being undermined. We’d stuck it out in the hope we could change paths and minds but that had repeatedly fallen on deaf ears.

On Monday 24th March, the entire staff team stood down. This was co-ordinated as none of us wanted to be associated with the shitshow that was going on.

For me, I loved RTT and loved staffing there. I loved the opportunities that it has given me and the fact that I’ve met some wonderful people along the way.

I lived in hope that there could be a way back from all of this and that was the reason I’d hung on so long, well, that and I didn’t want to give LL/Shroom the satisfaction of me stepping down.

The TL;DR – site owner has returned and has turned RTT into a personal cash machine. This appears to be the only logical conclusion.
For reference, the donations that I was able to calculate are as follows (info correct and verified as of 22nd March 2025) and I’ve no doubt the pussy or the fungi will try to call out these figures as fake:

5TB 229x$149.99=$34,347
2.5TB 307x$74.99=$23,021
EVIP 6 months 452x$89.99=$40,675
375GB 283x$24.99=$7,072
DoubleUp promo(s) ~ 1000x$17=$17000 (estimate based upon average donation)
So from end of October to now that makes $122,115 Bear in mind this does not cover any of the donation freeze packages that were available but a guesstimation of that would be at least another $3,000

This is pussy (site owner) trying to claim there’s misinformation being peddled https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1jhgum1/revolutiontt_false_information_debunked_by/

And the reason they posted that was because they banned a user for speaking their mind on RTT and subsequently posted about it on here (for the record, the figures posted in this OP were indeed wrong but only in the way they were calculated, we subsequently worked out a better way to accurately see donations. Of course this was blocked by the fungi once we’d been discovered) https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1jgws9f/under_new_management_the_death_of_an_old_scene/

Edit: just to get Nim's nick right, oops ;)

Responding to the bakaBT wiki
So i did the mistake of joining them due to being annoyed by the H&R rules on animebytes. Turns out BakaBT has basically no remuxes which is very stupid. They are also very lacking in content in general to the point where they are worse than nyaa in that regard.
There are many anime torrent sites but BakaBT is unique in the quality of our content.
The video quality on almost all torrents is noticeably inferior to nyaa and animebytes due to them mainly having "encodes". There are rare exceptions but generally the bluray remux will look noticeably better than even a top tier encode.

But even in cases where encode is preferable it's still very important that there is a bluray remux available for people to use as source for encodes, how else are people supposed to make encodes? (they don't have m2ts releases either).

A lot of time they will not even have a 1080p version at all, often they only offer 720p or don't have the series at all.
We do not accept public submissions; only Power Users and Power Uploaders may do so.
Every single torrent site that has a system like that has bad library to the point where it's barely worthwhile to join in the first place.

Limiting the number of users who can upload will result in less valuable content on their site, there is no exception to that.
Accounts are pruned after 11 months of disuse (i.e. not logging into the tracker account). Accounts with 0 download and 0 upload are pruned earlier.

Donator accounts (people who've donated to BakaBT and received a donator status) have the option of disabling inactivity pruning, and safeguarding their account for as long as they choose.
So you have to donate money to them to get immunity from inactivity pruning and uploading torrent has basically 0 upsides there? no wonder i can barely find anything worthwhile to download there.

The main nice thing about the site is organisation of their content, it's too bad there is hardly anything there worth downloading that you cannot get elsewhere (like nyaa which doesn't even require you to have an account in the first place, no need for invite there).

People getting fucked in fun ways "this is a humiliation ritual"
Saw some fun posts on 4chan that i just had to share

Then there is the good old waiting for your interview and getting fucked (good stuff):

Waiting-for-interview-lol.png

Someone on 4chan tried farmed uploads by uploading mp3 garbage nobody wanted, wasn't appreciated by the PTP recruiter:

This could be made up but stuff like that probably happens anyway:

Red spammer bible
I saw this posted on 4can so i repost it here:

https://rentry.org/69zbxh4h

RED SPAMMER’S BIBLE
VERSION 1.1
JUNE 1, 2025

Hello anon, if you are reading this you have decided to take your first step in climbing the ladder to reach the coveted cabal trackers. This means you passed the RED interview humiliation ritual. You learned about codecs, spectrograms, and formats. Never shall you fall victim to the horrors of rotational velocidensity. But now you’re stuck. What the fuck do I upload and where do I get it without spending any money you ask yourself. Well that’s what this document is here to provide the answer to.

PART 1: THE STREAMING SERVICES
I am sure by now you have seen the talk of “Deezer spam” and “Deezer slop” in /ptg/. Of all the streaming services Deezer is the most infamous due to how heavily it has been targeted by pirates. In the past downloading from there was as easy as obtaining a tool like deemix, deezloader, or smloadr and with a free account you could get the flac files that are only supposed to be accessible to their subscribers who pay for the highest tier. This is no longer the case. The owners of Deezer are sick and tired of our bullshit. For a long time many public download sites used Deezer as their main source using paid accounts to serve files to anybody who requests them. They have started to crack down on this too. As this document is being written this activity is starting to shift to Qobuz and Tidal.

Streaming services are a mixed bag. Distributors supply them with content in the form of wav files with metadata in xml files. These distributors will allow basically anybody to sign up and use them to distribute their music to streaming services. The slop economy enabled by AI content generation has fueled a rush to fill these services up with complete and utter garbage. For the most part these services do not give one single fuck if the content that is being dumped on them is good or not. They only care if these slop peddlers start using bot farms to inflate their streams and defraud them.

Does this mean the dead internet theory is real and streaming is nothing but slop? Lol no. It just means streaming services on their own are a shitty means of music discovery. Many people love their recommendations and playlists. If that’s what they are into just leave them to it. You can even be a “Spotify is good enough for me” type yourself and still find value in learning how to find music outside of the streaming services, at the very least for the purposes of RED spamming which is what we’re trying to do here.

PART 2: HOW TO SEARCH STREAMING SERVICES
If you go to tidal.com, deezer.com, or qobuz.com you will be met with a page begging you to sign up for their services. Don’t get discouraged by this. For search engine optimization purposes they list their entire catalogs of music publicly. If you do a Google search for an album they want you to find their service. But if you go directly to their website it might not be totally obvious where to go to search. For Qobuz and Deezer an easy way to bypass the bullshit is to open the page of an album, artist, or something similar directly and start searching from there.

https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/the-death-of-slim-shady-coup-de-grace-eminem/esfftivyrqz1a
https://www.deezer.com/en/album/614167792

Tidal is more of a pain in the ass. Try searching “Artist Name” tidal.com on Google.
PART 3: DOWNLOAD SITES/BOTS

https://squid.wtf/ Qobuz (currently working) Deezer (currently broken) RECOMMENDED
https://doubledouble.top/ Qobuz Tidal
https://t.me/+zsc35_7qd7RjNjY1 “Master Beaters” Telegram group Qobuz Tidal
https://t.me/deezload2bot DeezLoad bot Deezer

Squid’s interface allows you to search the album, artist, or title. My recommendation is to put both the artist name and title into an album search. If the album name is not unique enough it can bring up a bunch of unrelated bullshit. I find the artist search to be especially shitty. On doubledouble paste in the URL of the release and it will provide you a zip file. In the Master Beaters group send a message with /zip followed by the url of the release and it will download/upload a zip to Telegram. For the DeezLoad bot first send /settings, set it to flac, then send the URL of the release you want. It will give you an option to download all tracks. You won’t be able to get them in a zip so you need to download them one by one.

Most releases are on Qobuz, Tidal, and Deezer. I recommend using Qobuz in most cases. Squid is the most reliable site so it is recommended. Use the others as backups, especially for when you find a release is not on Qobuz. A major upside to downloading from Qobuz is their large library of 24bit flacs. Squid will display if an album is 24 bit or 16 bit when you hover over it's artwork which is especially helpful. 24bit = bloat = more upload.

When you are uploading 24bit flacs using this tool https://gitlab.com/beep_street/downsampler-threaded can help you to

dither them to 16bit the proper way so you get two uploads from the same release. This is recommended. I do not recommend doing mp3 transcodes because recruiters consider them to be spammy. In 2025 flac is king. Don’t bother with anything else.

Do not blindly trust the tags generated by these sites or bots. Quite often they are fucked up in one way or another. Keep multiple sites open in different tabs and cross reference the metadata. Fix the tags when you find discrepancies. I know this seems like pointless busywork but if you don’t do this you risk getting your uploads trumped.

COMMON ISSUES WITH FLACS FROM SPECIFIC SERVICES:

Qobuz: Downloads that exclude featured artists from the titles. Unset md5s in flac files which will make your upload trumpable on RED. Downloading from Squid gives an option to fix the md5 issue at the cost of making downloads slower. The script provided in part 5 of this document also fixes the md5s by recompressing the flacs.

DeezLoad bot: (Artist Name Remix) in the filename but it’s missing from the tag.
Tidal: No genre tag set

ALTERNATIVE METHODS
Perhaps you don't want to use these public sites or bots. Or you are a more technically advanced user who is capable of understanding how to write their own scripts. Or any case that's in between. If so you may wish to explore the following options.

firehawk52 Telegram group: https://t.me/firehawk52official
In this group you can find sections containing tokens and invites. The tokens belong to Tidal accounts with subscriptions and can allow you to download directly from Tidal without actually paying for anything. Each token links to an exe of TIDAL-Downloader-NG for Windows on some file locker site and if I were you I would not use that. Consider getting it from github instead: https://github.com/exislow/tidal-dl-ng/releases

If you scroll through you might be able to find some Qobuz and Deezer tokens in there too but ymmv with those. Tidal is known for putting out new releases before other streaming services so if you are trying to make your own scripts and race that's probably what you want to target anyway.

There's also the invite section where if you are fast enough you might be able to join someone's group plan for Deezer or Tidal. These accounts are probably just free trials being shared. Along with the link to sign up it tells you which country the invite is from. The implication being that you need to connect to a VPN from that country in order to initiate and complete the sign up process. Once you are signed up you should be able to use that account from an IP address in any country. Since it will eventually expire treat such accounts as disposable. Just don't talk in there unless you want to get deemed a beggar and told SAR YOU DO NOT REDEEM THE INVITE. You can probably guess what kind of people groups dedicated to acquiring free shit by dubious means can attract. If you find something useful outside the tutorials, invites, and tokens it will be buried under a fucking mountain of cringe.

firehawk52 rentry: https://rentry.org/firehawk52

While this may be out of date it's still a comprehensive resource for information about ripping from streaming services. Ignore the things like the Deezer ARLs. You can see they all expired in 2024 and as I said in the opening of this document the days of that shit are over. Instead use this guide for help with popular tools like OrpheusDL and Streamrip. You can try to get free trials for the various services to rip from them, and when they expire try to sign up again. It has worked for me in the past.

PART 4: HOW TO FIND MUSIC TO UPLOAD

METHOD 1: DOWNLOAD SHOPS

https://www.junodownload.com/
https://www.hdtracks.com/

I recommend browsing junodownload and hdtracks to look for music that is not already on RED. Searching music that is available on these sites can help you discover other sites that sell music for download as well. I already went over the situation with the slop on streaming services. Services that sell music have less of an incentive to push it on their customers. They want them to buy music from them so they provide a bit of curation. On the junodownload side they are more focused on selling to Djs with a heavy emphasis on dance music. They also feature a decent selection of soul and hip-hop releases with a less notable rock section. Browsing new releases on the site will help you quickly find new things to upload. Browsing through their best sellers can help you find music that people are actually buying, as in not slop. Be careful though because junodownload does stock some of the types of “ambient” “relaxing music” etc slop that is frowned upon by RED. Avoid that shit. On the hdtracks side we have music marketed to boomer audiofools. This is where you go to dig up the 24 bit bloated shit to search for and find on Qobuz. It has the kinds of safe, unadventurous genres those people like. Rock, pop, jazz, classical. This means at first glance it might seem like everything is already uploaded on RED. But if you dig a little bit deeper you can find things.

Even if you don’t like the kind of music you are uploading judge with your ears. Does this sound like something someone else might enjoy listening to? People who are into specific genres or subgenres will download every single thing that fits into that category. It could be amateurishly produced and have AI cover art but still be worthy of an upload. Just be careful and try to exercise proper judgment when it comes to these things. Read the specific rules linked from "Spam Playlist Releases & AI Created Music" in the RED upload form. This gives some good information to help you when it comes to learning how to spot AI slop. But as a spammer who may not care about this music it can be harder to pin it down. I've seen posters in /ptg/ getting confused about this.

TIPS FOR SPOTTING AI SLOP
Look at the spectrals. AI music generation tools such as suno.com only provide their output as lossy mp3s. I don't know if this applies for all AI music tools but I have downloaded things that were a bit sus and decided not to upload them for this reason alone. Most things you will upload that need to be reported for "lossy WEB" will have one or two tracks that cut at a specific frequency, not every single track. Just because something is a lossy WEB doesn't mean you should not upload it, but if it looks like shit, it sounds like shit, and it's even slightly suspicious it probably is shit.
Search the artist name on RED. Has anything else by them ever been uploaded before? Does it fit the same genre? If nothing comes up for the artist name perhaps try searching for other artists who have released on that label. If the label is simply the name of the distributor like "RecordJet" or "DistroKid" that's a possible sign of slop and you should be careful.

METHOD 2: SCENE
Now I know what you’re thinking. Scene shit is everywhere. If it’s so easy to get these releases why aren’t they all uploaded to RED already? Well if you upload an untouched scene release to RED a bunch of seedboxes that already have it will jump in the swarm to automatically cross seed which makes it utterly pointless. So if we’re going to take advantage of the scene we need a different approach.

https://predb.me/?search=WEB+FLAC
https://predb.me/?search=WEBFLAC (one dumbass group keeps using this and getting nuked lmao)

If you want to check which tracks are on a release or see the nfo file to figure out which streaming service it was obtained from you can paste the release name into the search box here:

https://www.srrdb.com/

For some genres of music scene will be much slower than uploaders on RED who are also very interested in the same shit. Other genres are neglected almost entirely. By observing which groups are putting out music that isn’t already on RED you can find music to upload. Instead of obtaining the scene rip you should rip it yourself so the seedboxes will download it from you. The upside of this method is that some scener that perhaps actually cares about a specific kind of music is making the choices for you.

METHOD 3: OFFERED THREADS
In the “Offered” section of the forums there are threads where users can request anything they want from these streaming services simply by replying with a link to it. You can upload it then quote them with a link to it. While these threads are associated with specific streaming services there’s nothing stopping you from using whatever service you want to fill. Sometimes you will find yourself racing other users but it’s not as bad as requests where anything that’s on streaming will get instafilled. Occasionally you will see morons not uploading things that are requested because they are lossy mastered and announcing this. These dumb motherfuckers are too stupid to simply upload it and report it for lossy WEB request. When you see this take advantage of their ignorance.

BONUS TIPS
If you only look at albums it might start to feel like damn near everything has been uploaded. This is a direct result of RED’s hard economy. Uploading a great single or EP gets you less of a reward than uploading a piece of shit album. I don’t think the RED admins notice or even care about this situation. It will probably never change. Uploading singles and EPs may take slightly more effort than just spamming albums but there are less people doing it. There’s years and years of neglected content of this sort you could be uploading. Some genres of music (dance especially) just lend themselves better to singles. Even singles from popular artists get ignored while losers with no life will be impatiently waiting so they can be the one to upload the album it’s attached to. The real reason you can’t talk about “exploits” on RED is because the community might develop tools to BTFO these parasites and make them feel less special once anyone can race uploads.

Browsing through the Qobuz website is especially great for finding 24bit flacs to spam with. Once you find one you can click on the label and see if they released anything else that isn’t on RED yet. If you’ve been uploading for awhile you can start to remember labels that release in 24bit so you know to go straight to Qobuz when you see them. Sadly some other RED uploaders are well aware of this and you might find many of the best things to upload are already taken. But a 24bit EP can be nearly the same size as a 16bit album, so being smart about it can still get you far.

For years the advice given to anons spamming uploads has been to upload current year or previous year flacs. This is evergreen. As of the time this is being written that means uploading 2025 or 2024 releases is pretty much guaranteed to get you snatches. A lesser known piece of advice is that many of these autosnatchers will grab anything with specific tags, not just things from specific years. For example anything you can add the "jazz" tag to is guaranteed to get you at least one snatch regardless of the year it was released. While uploading older releases may get you less snatches if you're doing it with a home connection instead of a seedbox you will probably only get a ratio of 1 on most torrents anyway, it doesn't make a difference. Observe the snatching patterns and adjust your strategy accordingly. Also add as many relevant tags to your upload as possible to attract more autosnatchers. For example if your upload is punk.rock it's rock too.

PART 5: RELEASE CLEANING SCRIPT

https://files.catbox.moe/5jwnmo.py

Provided here is a python script to clean folders containing flac files. The idea is that you unzip an album into a folder, or in the case of deezloader you make a folder and dump all the flacs it gave you into it, and the script will prepare it for upload. This automates a lot of the bitch work caused by download sites and bots giving you bloated/poorly named files. It recompresses the flacs with -8 and ensures there is no jpg files attached to them to debloat. If there is no jpg in the folder it will attempt to extract it from one of the flac files. It will add track numbers and titles to filenames based on tags. It is an AI generated script though. It’s not perfect either. I encountered one case where it fucked up when a track title started with a number. I could probably ask AI to fix it but I’m too fucking lazy. Laziness is the point of the tool in the first place. It cannot solve all problems. Just most of them. Expect it to work like it should more than 90% of the time.
Instructions:

Place this .py file in the folder where you plan to extract the music folders you will process.

You need flac and metaflac. Get it here: https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/xiph/releases/flac/ If you are a Linux user like me compile the latest version and make sure it’s in PATH. If you are a Windows user get the zip file that ends with -win.zip and extract flac.exe and metaflac.exe from the correct folder inside of it, probably the win64 one. Then make sure flac.exe and metaflac.exe are in the folder with the py file.

If you are on Linux you probably already have python installed. If you are on Windows you will need to download it and install it. Any version of python3 should work, idk lol.

If you’re on Linux you probably already know how to execute a python script. If you’re on windows open up the command prompt, you know press the windows key, type cmd, hit enter. Then use cd to change directory to where your py file, exes, and music folders are. Run python3 5jwnmo.py (or whatever you renamed it to) and when it asks Enter the directory to clean: provide it with the folder containing flac files that you want to clean.

If you think my instructions are shit I won’t disagree. I tried my best. You can always just ask chatgpt.
Another anon has recommended "smoked salmon" which you can find here:

https://github.com/smokin-salmon/smoked-salmon

This may take a bit more effort for you to set up than my simple shitty script but it does have a lot more features. Depending on where you are sourcing your files and how much processing they need you may want to use it instead of, or in conjunction with my script. One tip I can give you is that it suggests installing flac from your distro's repo, you should probably compile it yourself instead and put it in PATH because you will be able to ensure you have the latest version that way.

A copyright troll once joined torrentleech
This is why it's safer to use private trackers that have not had any recent open signups. The longer since the last time people could join for free the safer it is. It's even better if you cannot pay to join in the first place.

pop-1988 wrote:

Cloudflare has been resisting lawsuits asking it to reveal its customers for years. These lawsuits are expensive for the copyright trolls. If Cloudflare eventually gets a subpoena it can't refuse, the tracker can abandon Cloudflare. The wisdom of private trackers using Cloudflare has been debated here and another subreddit on and off for years
It all comes down to money

Copyright enforcement is not profitable. It's not worth paying lawyers to demand Cloudflare reveal the details of its customers. It's not worth it for content owners to infiltrate even public bittorrent swarms, so they pay copyright troll services, and they pay them as little as possible. However many notices are sent to ISPs, even paying pennies per thousand is unprofitable, because this enforcement does not increase the revenue of the content owner

Why aren't copyright trolls joining IPT? It only costs a $20 donation. But they don't earn $20 by joining IPT and sending a few notices. A few years ago, during a long period of open registration, a copyright troll joined TL. Notices were sent. Users reported their notices to TL staff. Staff used the details on the notices - torrent names and timestamps - to cross-reference the list of users active on those torrents at those timestamps, to discover who the troll was. The troll was banned
domain seizure
This is avoidable by using domains where the TLD registrar is in a jurisdiction which doesn't allow no-trial seizure. That is, everywhere that isn't the USA. Even better, find a country which doesn't do domain seizures. Also, don't buy the domain from an American registrar, don't host the DNS in America, don't host the front-facing Web hosts or IRC servers in America

On aspect of the resilience of private trackers is they often survive even when forced to hop to a new domain. This is usually caused by the domain owner losing his login credentials, and occasionally by the domain owner becoming hostile to his fellow admins. Sometimes there are domain seizures - although that enforcement is more common in pirate streaming sites than private bittorrent sites
I don't think that security through obscurity is a real factor
Sure, because there is other security which you don't seem to be aware of. Apart from the inability of copyright trolls to join trackers, there's a layered network topology. There are more layers than just using Cloudflare at the front end
since the top tier trackers (like PTP or BTN) are probably well known by copyright olders
That's an assumption. I would guess (also just assumptions) that they know the names of the 2 largest money earners - IPT and TL - and possibly RED

Consider enforcement as it actually happened

The SPARKS bust followed years of investigations, one undercover arrest, turning that defendant into an informer (in return for a plea deal), and using his information (more months of investigation) to issue 3 indictments. The three were the informer, and Artist and Bridi. The informer got a light sentence. Bridi got 22 months. Artist was never arrested

Was the enforcement effective? Did copyright piracy stop?

It was disruptive. Big parts of the Scene retired, and there was a partial drought of Scene releases for about 2 months

Why i changed my mind regarding GGn
I used to think that they were a very great tracker and sure they are far better than the alternatives but i also find myself frustrated with it as i tried to actually use it to find great games to play.

I used to think that their complicated system where the tracker is a game itself (with items, etc) was cool but over time i have grown to not really like it that much.

A lot of items are gated specifically behind IRC lines where you need to have posted a certain number of messages in their IRC chat to use certain items. A lot of higher end dwarf pets for example has this limitation and if you buy a lower level pet to later upgrade it you will lose all your xp you have build with that pet.

But the bigger issue i see is that the system on their site doesn't really encourage actually doing meaningful contributions. You focus your energy on gaming their system instead of actually uploading new torrents to the site.

While the community definitely has its good sites i honestly find myself not really fitting in with it due to not liking the games the community as a whole is promoting and recommending (such as via freeleech pots) and i have not found the community helpful when it comes to actually finding great games to play (i had more luck on reddit so far).

I have however found several interesting games on GGn by using their feature to list similar games, they are actually superior to steam for that. Notice the pattern where the things that are not community-driven are far better?

But honestly i don't know if i even want GGn to change. What i really want is there to be some competetive alternative to it. Someone on 4chan actually stated they used to be the third best private tracker for games but that the better sites got shut down. I find myself wishing there was any actual real alternative to it still remaining.

While RED may not be as active in their IRC it is clearly the better site for actually getting you the media you want. I can interest with people elsewhere (where i feel more comfortable and better aligned with the community itself).

When it comes to more technical topics tracker communities in general tend to be decently useful so you can definitely get value out of using the GGn IRC channel, you just have to know which topics to bring up.

A bigger issue with chatting away on the IRC channel is you revealing info about yourself that could be used to figure out your identity elsewhere. Several private trackers count probably figure out which account i have on their site if they really wanted to but i do keep my off-site activity clean as well just in case.

Main concern i have is people outside of staff figuring out my identify if i am too active and reveal too much since i do not have the same trust in low level users.

Obviously you shouldn't reuse private tracker passwords
GGn specifically told users not to use the site password as their IRC key since it's stored as plain-text. Hopefully all their users actually followed that advice because an attacker was able to get hold of some of those passwords lately.

The loser ddosing GGn and RED paid for invite breaking the rules
No evidence that staff would send invites to sites only to have people who paid for them banned but it would actually be an interesting way to own people trying to buy access.

Code:
[03:57:28] <ddoser> this staff arent too smart. i saw them gline a guy like 20+ times before he realized the guy was just changing his ip just as fast as they were glining. i think they finally figured it out and stopped. but i mean, thats not smart at all lol.

[04:00:50] <ddoser> what if that person was scammed by a tracker? then that doesnt make it less sad?
[04:01:02] <ddoser> you know running a ddos these days is simply pressing a few mouse buttons and thats it right?
[04:01:17] <ddoser> you dont have to be actively sitting there the whole time, you know that right?
[04:01:27] <ddoser> they can click a few mouse buttons and live their life normally..

[04:05:27] <ddoser> depends. layer 7 usually is impossible to mitigate.

[04:08:12] <ddoser> LAYER 7 attacks are almost impossible to mitigate. doesnt matter. how much mney you throw at the problem. GGn changed hosting companies like 3-4 times now and they are still down it looks like.

[04:16:05] <ddoser> yea thats a smart idea
[04:16:11] <ddoser> uh
[04:18:25] <ddoser> you realize the owner of these torrent sites and staff are usually paranoid about federal agents kicking down their doors.....
[04:19:33] <ddoser> well when you report your illegal torrent site to the police i dont think they are going to do much.
[04:20:28] <ddoser> you know. even if they get his home ip. hes not ddosing from his home ip. hes using a website of some sort... you know that right?

The recent response from GGn was weak and disappointing
They signaled weakness even though their site currently work fine under the ddos. There also shouldn't be any room for negotiating anyway so best option is to provoke him even more so he drains his funds faster in a desperate attempt to get the site taken down.

Why would you even waste time talking to someone who bought an invite multiple times only to get banned?

There is no fix for stupid.

weak-GGn-response.png

A user (not me obviously) did complain about the weakness in the forum. I don't think he was given multiple chances but staff for some reason do not want to go into the details too much even though the details has already leaked to the public.

It is possible to climb without joining a music tracker but it's stupid
Recently there was news about BHD recruiting on ANT and MTV which made it possible to gain access to higher tier trackers without ever joining OPS or RED or accepting any unofficial (risky) invite.

The only other official way in is via MaM and while that was earlier a dead end unless you later joined OPS or RED (which has been possible so far directly or indirectly) thanks to BHD recruitment it was actually possible to skip over those sites completely.

But lets be real here: it's far easier and faster to simply join RED right away and upload there. It's actually relatively easy to find stuff to upload on RED (compared to for example GGn) and the process itself is also relatively easy compared to say ripping a bluray to upload (which requires special bluray drives with special firmware).
