Many people who doesn't reproduce delude themselves into thinking that what they do instead of having children is worthwhile and something valuable.

Of course almost without exception what people do thinking it's some great important thing is pointless or even outright harmful.

Albert Einstein wasted the last 30 years of his life on a fruitless effort trying to come up with a more unified theory (physics). There is also no shortage of crackpots thinking they are working on some revolutionary theory of physics when in reality they are just wasting their time with nonsense.

About "cultural reproduction"
Cultural evolution requires a biological foundation, otherwise progress is difficult to impossible.

Even if you are intelligent chances are people will just ignore your ideas and thus the culture you created will fail to spread. You might be able to get a small amount of followers but this will probably fall apart after your death if not before that.

You end up having to compete against actors far stronger than you which is why it's so difficult to get any traction with your ideas on how to live or how to govern a society. It's not just about money, it's also the fact that some people are a lot smarter than you are and thus have a significant advantage over you.

It's very difficult to make true intellectual progress
All easy discoveries in mathematics and physics have already been made, therefore it's very difficult for even highly intelligent people to make further progress. Theoretical fundamental physics hasn't made much if any progress the last 50 years.

Working outside institutions is possible but it's very rare that is actually successful. The media like to run stories about 'lone geniuses' making a new amazing discovery but what's usually the case is that the theory doesn't hold up to scrutiny, it may have looked promising for a while but then it turns out it didn't work.

The fact that the discovery (above) was published on 4chan does not mean it wasn't discovered by a professional, it's very possible that some professional mathematician posted it there as an experiment to see what would happen.

I heard from someone close to me about 3 cases of adopted children throwing their adoptive parents under the bus.

In one case it failed becuase they also had 2 biological children that spoiled the plans.

In one case the adoptive moder gifted her house early to her 'daughter' thinking she would be allowed to live there until she died. What happened however was that the female needed the house for her child/children so her adoptive mother (that was healthy and wanted to keep living there) was forced into a nursing home, she got very sad about that and died months later.

In another less severe case the male adoptee refused to help her adoptive 'mother' after she had given him a lot of money.

There is no replacement for having your own children, anything that isn't genetic reproduction is cope.

Videogames provide a false sense of accomplishment where you progress in the game instead of progressing in the real world.

The fact that some people are able to make money from playing videogames (streamers, professional esports players, etc) will make it easier to reationalize spending hours playing a game as your life deteriorate, of course very few people actually make it to where they they make more money back from the videogame hobby than they put into it assuming they are even trying to make any money from it. For most gamers playing games is just a hobby that take up time and cost money.
