Do you have any success stories of learning another language fluently

How did you do it? I need some inspiration, because I worry I'm going to put in this effort and it won't amount to anything.

I'm reading a Collins French grammar book and it kinda reminds me of when I read an O'Reilly book on C#. I was like, "Oh wow, this makes sense; so much better than C++" but I didn't really retain any of the knowledge; I couldn't tell you now a single thing I learned from that book.

And sometimes it's kinda the same way with French; I can read, e.g., what en and y are used for, and be like, "Oh, okay, that makes sense" but it's really practice that makes one remember it.

Lawless French has this one French learning program that I think is designed to give you a sense of progress and keep you from giving up in frustration, but I just wonder what the end result will be. Duolingo was even worse; part of the problem with it was that it just went so slowly, plus they wasted your time on pronunciation.

You need a good motivator.

Personally, even if she rejects you outright, having a hot teacher online always helps a lot when learning a new language.

Unfortunately, you're probably gonna need to shell out extra due to their looks.
