Females want to have it all; they want a good-looking guy who's also going to provide for them. Unfortunately, there's a scarcity of such men out there, but women will always have this fantasy that they can rehabilitate a good-looking loser to be a decent provider. After all, it seems more likely that'll happen, than that an ugly betabuxx will become more handsome somehow. It's just assumed that the good-looking loser just needs the right motivation, e.g. some chick he's fallen in love with who needs him to step up and get his shit together.
(There are also some chicks who will go ahead and marry the betabuxx and hope for a chance to get banged by the hot pool boy; but other chicks pursue their alpha fuxx, beta buxx imperative in other ways, e.g. by going straight for the badboy/loser and trying to get knocked up by him and THEN getting some beta chump(s), possibly including their dad and/or society, to provide for them. The goal is still the same -- to get impregnated with a kid who has some good genetics, and acquire provisioning to take care of said kid.)
Well anyway, the female playbook for these situations tends to go like this. She'll approach the loser and be like, "I don't care that you're a loser; I admire you for your ______." Or she'll bring up chemistry or whatever. She'll be like, "I don't care that you don't have any money; I can support us."
What this actually means is, "I'm not going to demand that you have your shit together immediately; I'm going to give you some positive female attention, possibly including sex, for awhile, but gradually ratchet up the pressure for you to get a job and provide for me. If at any point you balk and refuse or fail to get and keep a job for any sustained period of time, e.g. six months, then I'll dump you and say you're a deadbeat, possibly a rapist, etc. and all this will be your fault since you weren't supposed to get with me if you didn't plan on supporting me."
But, because she formulates her statement as, "You don't need to support me; I'll support us," the guy can't really give the excuse, "I don't know if I'll be capable of that." If she says that, she'll just say, "But I already told you, I don't need that from you. Can't you listen to reason?" and she'll act hurt that he's not accepting what she's offering. She'll feel rejected, being like, "I offered you all this, and you didn't want it."
Well -- it's just that what she says she's offering, and what she's actually offering, are two different things. Yeah, it might sound unreasonable if he rejects what she SAYS she's offering, but that's kinda irrelevant because she's not actually going to follow through with what she says. The only relevance it has, is that it takes away his ability to excuse himself from the situation by saying, "I don't know that I can afford you support you"; this allows her to keep trying to reel him in using this fantasy she puts forward. Maybe if she says it enough, he'll start believing it, just out of wishful thinking.
Chicks can be really good at putting forth a compelling fantasy. One might even argue, if they don't put forward all that compelling of a fantasy, they may not actually like you all that much; maybe they're ambivalent about really wanting the relationship. Chicks will say, "When we live together, you can have sex with other girls and I won't mind," or whatever they need to say, to get you to think they offer something special that other chicks don't offer. Saying, "I don't care if you are too broke to provide for me" is just another example of that, but it's specific to the category of jobless loser that she wants to rehabilitate. When the situation actually arises where she might need to make good on her promise, she'll find some excuse to change the rules (e.g. if the dude actually starts talking about banging another chick, she'll say, "Go be with her then; you don't need me if you have her"; or if he doesn't get a job, she'll find some excuse to leave him).
