I'm always seeing news articles where they say that you should tip your waitress 20%, and round up if you're in doubt. The implication seems to be that these chicks are really poor.
I dunno, man; I hear waitresses (and their close relative, bartenders) say all the time that they make a bunch of money, except maybe at certain disappointing/annoying times when they get stuck working when there are few or no customers there. Well, just do the math; if they're really as hard-working as they say, then they have how many customers per hour? If you multiply each of those by, say, a $10 or $20 tip, that adds up to a lot of money per hour.
Most of their money seems to go to support alcohol and/or drug habits. So if you give them money, it's not really all that different than giving the bum on the street some money, because it's gonna end up going to the same drug dealers or liquor stores. Some waitresses are single moms, which means that your giving them money is just enabling her to support herself and her bastard kid without needing to put out for some betabuxx. You're basically being a cuck, and contributing to male inceldom, by funding her lifestyle.
Plus people will always say that the way you treat your waitress says a lot about how you'll treat your girlfriend/wife or other people in general. Like there's even any occasion to treat a waitress poorly, unless they somehow really manage to fuck up, yet even that will usually be forgiven if the waitress is apologetic?
Actually, if anything, it's probably women who treat those servers worse than anyone, with their petty complaints where they're trying to scam the restaurant into taking some food off the bill to compensate for deficient service; or where, because they're easily offended and displeased, they find some trivial fault in the server's attitude or how they carry themselves, or see some problem in the ambience of the place that they want to draw the server's attention to, because they feel like their dining experience wasn't perfect. Guys focus more on the big picture so we're not the ones to make such a big deal about stuff like that.
Why doesn't anyone care about the dishwasher who slaves away and gets yelled at if the dishes aren't getting washed fast enough? People care a lot more about the harried waitress and her struggle.
It just goes to show, too, how feminism is a movement of privileged white chicks, because that's probably what most of these waitresses are. They're not gonna have the Mexican immigrants, who live 20 people to a house, interacting with customers; they're going to put the Mexican hombre in the kitchen, or the Mexican mujer in the restaurant owner's house upstairs, taking care of his 3-year-old daughter. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
Meanwhile, a lot of these waitresses are college students who are using the tips they get from thirsty and/or sympathetic men to fund their carousel ride; and later, after they get their degree in English or communication or whatever, they'll be writing for various news outlets about the struggle of waitress and how they deserve more tips. Yet, we would never actually increase their base pay to the standard minimum wage, because then they couldn't play the victim about how they don't even get the same base wage as the dishwasher. Meanwhile, the dishwasher doesn't even get the opportunity to pocket a few bucks now and then tax free. It's all just a scam.
