The only time men get along, is when the chicks that they all desire are rejecting all of them equally. Suppose a girl, we'll just call her "Florelle," were talking to you, flirting with you, etc. and you thought you could get somewhere with her. Then probably you'd get excited about her and want to tell people, and your friend, whom we'll just call "Bruce," would get annoyed and talk some shit to you about her.
If Florelle gave you positive attention, you'd probably decide that maybe she's not so bad after all, and you'd want to take back the negative stuff you said about her, and give her the benefit of the doubt. And then envious people would say you're bluepilled, because they don't want you making an attempt to get with a chick who doesn't like them, and who they don't have a chance with.
The way it works is, if she doesn't like guy X, then guy X is going to think, "That girl's a piece of shit" but if she likes guy Y, then guy Y will think, "That girl is really awesome." So the two will end up in conflict.
Florelle doesn't particularly like Bruce, but if she gave him positive attention, he'd probably have a better attitude toward her, and maybe he'd even defend her against people who criticized her, and say that she's not like other girls. The reason is that from his perspective, she truly wouldn't be like other girls, because unlike other girls, she'd be giving him positive attention. Guys who don't get a lot of positive attention from chicks will tend to regard the chicks who do as special.
Most guys think of themselves as a good guy, who's deserving of a good chick. Therefore, if a chick doesn't like them, they think, "She must not be a good chick, because she doesn't appreciate a good guy like me." On the other hand, if she does like him, he thinks, "She must be a good chick, because she sees my good qualities and is attracted to them."
She doesn't like Bruce; therefore, Bruce assumes she must be a bad chick, because what else could explain why she doesn't like him, and instead prefers other guys. Therefore, he's going to hate on any guy who does like Florelle, and especially any guy who receives any positive attention from her, because if she's a bad chick (which in his eyes she must be, since she doesn't like him), that must mean that the guys she likes are also trash. And also, if she's a bad chick, then any guys who like her are themselves also trash, or at best bluepilled.
