they read normie news magazines like Time and watch shitty normie news channels like CNN, rather than getting their news from Internet sites that might have a dissident view. And if they do finally get on the Internet, it's because they got an email from a friend saying, "Hey, let's connect on Facebook" and now they're surfing Facebook all the time and talking to their echo chamber about how bad Trump is.
So even when they embrace the new technology, it's only the shittiest portion of what's available that they use. Now they're not only watching retarded shit on TV, they're also surfing retarded shit on their phone, so it's even harder to get their attention and tell them anything divergent from the mainstream.
It's kinda like how my sister normally would just sit around the house, but sometimes she gets an idea in her head that she wants to be "financially independent" so she doesn't have to let betabuxxes screw her in order to get them to feed her and put a roof over her head. So, she'll buy into some pyramid scheme, charging $4,000 or however much to her credit card for training in multilevel marketing, and then her betabuxx will end up paying that credit card bill.
Someone could tell her, "Hey, there's a whole world of other investments out there, like Bitcoin, gold, silver... imagine if you'd bought into some of this stuff 10, 20 years ago.." Her eyes would just glaze over and she'd go back to the slickly marketed pyramid schemes.
If people are like, "You're a dumbass for acting that way" she's like, "This conversation is making me feel bad, so I'm going to draw a boundary and avoid this negativity by shutting out toxic people like you" and then turn to a pyramid scheme because she thinks, "Well, I feel good about what this person is telling me about how I'm going to make a lot of money, so that means it must be legit."
