As expected the dysfunctional democratic state is falling and the talibans are taking over more and more land.

https://afghanistan.liveuamap.com/

This happened because western countries were dumb enough to give power to the Afghan public instead of putting a proper leadership in place.

The government is close to surrendering
Now the democratic government is talking about surrendering to let the talibans take over peacefully (both sides want to avoid fighting):

The Taliban are talking about forming an inclusive government, of course once they actually have power that might not actually materialize.

The Taliban now control almost the entire country and there is no real resistance anymore:

President Ashraf Ghani leaves Afghanistan
Still no transition agreement in place but the talibans has offered some amnesty for people in government in addition to promosing to respect women's rights, we will soon find out if they will even try to keep these promises.

The amnesty they are promising could be a trap (in an attempt to stop people they want to persecute from fleeing), this is exciting stuff.

The talibans ban the covid vaccines and will force females to marry their fighters
As the Taliban continues their ruthless takeover of Afghanistan, they’ve taken to banning the COVID-19 vaccine in certain regions of the country.

Shamshad News, an Afghani news platform, reported on Thursday that the Taliban has banned coronavirus vaccine distribution in Paktia, a province in eastern Afghanistan, after it was captured by the group last week. Walayat Khan Ahmadzai, the provincial public health director for the region, said that the Taliban has warned regional hospital employees to stop distributing the vaccine. They’ve since closed the COVID-19 vaccine ward in the regional hospital.

Afghanistan’s President Has Fled
It’s a pretty dire situation in the country as it falls faster than many anticipated to the Taliban. On Sunday, Afghani President Ashraf Ghani fled the country as the insurgent military group reached the gates of the capital, Kabul — the last major city controlled by the country’s official government, according to The New York Times.

Many people throughout the country fled to Kabul in the hopes of escaping the brutality and ruthlessness of the Taliban. Now that the city has fallen, many are attempting to escape the city before a full takeover.

Brutal Takeover
Banning the COVID-19 vaccine is just one of many draconian demands that the Taliban has implemented since beginning their takeover of Afghanistan. Speaking to NPR from Kabul, journalist Lynne O’Donnell described the horrors and atrocities the people now face due to the Taliban — particularly to girls and women.

“Women were told that they had to stay in their homes,” O’Donnell said. “They weren’t allowed out unless they were accompanied by a male relative. They had to wear full hijab […] Women were told, also, that they would be rounded up and they would be married off to Taliban fighters.”

The situation is only growing more and more dire. Though President Biden has ordered an additional 5,000 troops to be sent to the region to assist in the withdrawal of personnel such as translators and journalists who helped the US during its occupation of the country, one can only expect a situation like this to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

The Taliban has already taken over
United states is leaving now leaving Afghan civilians behind (only a small fraction will be evacuated)

There is reports of Talibans doing revenge killings so people being worried is probably justified, it's too bad it's near impossible for most civilians to get out.

Now different government factions are blaming each other (USA):

They are getting control over advanced weapons now so it will be very hard to take back control from them:

Leftwing youtube channels are silent
For some reason leftwing youtube channels are completely ignoring Afghanistan likely because they support Joe Biden (or at least his decision to withdraw), not a single video about it can be found (last 2 weeks checked):

The Rational National https://archive.is/hRfMp

The young Turks https://archive.is/UKsgq

Secular Talk https://archive.is/nKyOw

The Humanist Report https://archive.is/0eIU9

David Pakman Show https://archive.is/XnHuk

Vaush https://archive.is/R8CXL He did to a livesteam about it explaining how this was clearly bad for women, this video was later published

Why Leftwingers have to ignore this
In order to secure rights to people you have to use violence (supressing people like the talibans), rights always come with a price and this generally include taking away rights from others.

Furthermore rights also heavily depend on who is given the power, in a democracy that is fundamentally the citizens and then who is allowed to become citizen will impact which rights you maintain. If you import refuges hostile to LGBT people that will probably not be good for LGBT people.

The Afghan government falling is also a clear failure of democracy. Of course leftwingers will make all kinds of excuses for this (or more likely completely ignore this subject) but it is a fact that what they believed in clearly failed, the dysfunctional and corrupt democratic government fell very quickly once the west stopped propping it up.

Sky News Australia Rubbing it in
They are not ignoring this glorious failure of democracy

Turns out the Afghan soldiers had not been paid in 7 months due to corruption, they also often didn't even get food and ammunition. No wonder they were defecting in massive numbers.

Anti-brexit youtuber: democracy doesn't work in the middle east
He pointed out how we cannot copy & paste our system to their society since their society is very different (with far more family/tribal loyalty). It is refreshing to see someone more to the left taking a no-nonsense approach to this:

How the Taliban could have been prevented from taking over the country
It's very simple, we have to actually make it worth-while for soldiers to do their job rather than using the western model where (largely male) soldiers are expecting to risk their lives for essentially nothing in return. In this case they got literally nothing since they didn't even get paid.

This while the Taliban fighters will all get female sex/breeding slaves to have fun with.

Had the afghan soldiers been made elite citizens with special privileges (special voting rights, etc) they would have been far more motivated to defend the system and this collapse would have been avoided.

Trump also wanted to pull out
He did plan to pull the troops in 2017 but a general convinced him not to (because then what's happening now would have happened in 2017). This was not the case of some "deep state" trying to push for needless war, this was the case of generals wanting to protect the Afghan public from the talibans while the public grew increasingly negative about the whole thing.

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/22/trump-afghanistan-generals-241886

Trump ended up negotiating with the talibans and initiated a withdrawal anyway. Joe biden just continued with that plan (except that he wasn't at all willing to send troops back if needed to prevent a taliban takover). Joe biden pointed out that the military had enough troops and equipment to win the war against the Taliban and he stated that they have to defend their own country.

In 2018, Trump got Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar released from prison.

In 2020, Trump's Secretary of State met with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

In 2021, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is set to become the President of Afghanistan under Taliban rule.

Leftists now claim Afghanistan falling to the Taliban was unavoidable
This of course is false, this could have been avoided by building a strong undemocratic government there.

Instead we got:

Traditional masculinity won
In the west traditional masculinity is often pathologised and instead we promote humanism. Things like that doesn't work when you have to win a war, to win a war you need to be brutal, it's about killing people and making people disfigured for opposing you, it's very much inline with traditional masculinity.

Needed to win a war:

This is what we need:

If the government soldier had been more traditionally masculine (in addition to recieving proper support including food and ammunition) they would have fought to the death instead of surrendering the moment it became dangerous to keep fighting.

Ghani fled with $169 million, claims Afghan ambassador to Tajikistan
This of course would not mean than Ghani stole this for himself, maybe he just did not want this to fall in the hands of the Taliban, even then however whhy wasn't that money used to fund the military? (giving soldiers proper food, ammunition, salaries, etc).

timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/south-asia/ghani-fled-with-169-million-claims-afghan-ambassador-to-tajikistan/articleshow/85436376.cms

He himself does however deny taking large amount of money with him in contradiction with these reports

A failed feminist project
The west tried pushing feminist onto the afghans, how did that work out?

US has spent $787 million on gender programs, not including gender included in other programs. Hope to challenge stereotypes and patriarchy

https://mobile.twitter.com/RichardHanania/status/1367146062868226049

"There is no Dari or Pashto word for the terms 'gender' and 'gender equality.'...Afghans often simply use the English word without any translation."

Obviously, the US will need to help change the language, maybe introduce new pronouns to accomplish its mission.

US working to "bring about changes in attitudes, behaviors, roles and responsibilities at home, in the workplace, and in the community." Are Pashto men doing enough housework? How could American forces leave without knowing for sure?

US places itself in a long historical tradition of fighting for feminism in Afghanistan. The Soviets tried it, which led to rebellions and violent resistance. US hopes to take Afghanistan back to the good old days of Soviet occupation.

US in Afghanistan has adopted a policy of "gender mainstreaming, in which the design and implementation of development programs are required to be sensitive to gender norms and disparities." Imagine this in previous wars, FDR thinking about the disparate impact of D-Day.

US created quotas for women in parliament. Now, they find "pervasive sexual harassment against female candidates, where male election staff and other stakeholders ask female candidates for sexual favors in return for support."

"Women parliamentarians have limited connection with their constituencies, and some have never even been to the provinces they represent." US worried that women parliamentarians vote on ethnic or tribal basis, American soldiers must build female solidarity to win war.

US interviews Afghan parliamentarians on gender relations. Hears complaints that women are not given as much time to speak in meetings. Ministers stand up to greet men, but not women. Again, this is a report by the American government on a war it's been fighting for 20 years.

Number of women voters has been going down across the course of the war, both in total and as a percentage of the vote.

US forces rural Afghans to have gender balanced councils to get money for infrastructure projects. Still, "men regularly interfere in women’s meaningful participation by blocking information, controlling project funds, and ignoring their input.

1629398636675.png

Some US programs involve enlisting Afghan men in the the cause. They gave "trainings to 1,105 Afghan men in which they could discuss their own gender roles and examine male attitudes that are harmful to women." One initiative is called the "National Masculinity Alliance."

To integrate women into the Afghan army, the US sent "gender advisers," built :women’s training centers and schools, housing, child care centers, gyms, dining facilities, and bathrooms."

US mission to integrate women into the Afghan military hindered by lack of sexual harassment policy in the ministry of defense or ministry of interior. US set goal of 10% women in army, only reached 1%.

US report mentions that the Taliban has never sent a woman to the peace negotiations. When a woman from the Afghan gov delegation recommended the Taliban send a woman to one of the negotiations, "they laughed immediately."

A leader of a feminist organization gushes about how when she met the Taliban she was teasing them and they "behaved so nicely."

1629398763454.png

The issue of women has become the fundamental disagreement to ending the war. So much so that “Whenever you talk about women’s rights, you get tagged as a person who is against the peace process." Report warns this is a troubling narrative that must not take hold.

Flashback to the Afghan papers. USAID official talks about how US made gender central to their policy and it caused the people to revolt.
