Reddit: the Northern Alliance did a tactical retreat and then conquered even more
No proper sources for the second claim was provided and the notion that them not even showing up to fight was tachnical could be just wishful thinking.

Most countries obviously do not want to help the Northern Alliance now since they have many of their citizen stranded in the hands of the Taliban. They are also politically comitted to the withdraw making it hard to go back again.

The Northern alliance leader is already talking about making peace with the taliban, a lot of people are probably hoping for way too much here, most likely is they will have to settle at controlling just a part of Afghanistan or that they will surrender completely.

Talibans no longer allowing afghans to leave
First they gave 'anmesty' but because people didn't trust that or wanted to leave for other reasons many still wanted out, the talibans are now setting a stop to that stating that they do not want the elite to leave the country.

One very real possibility however is that they also want to be able to take revange against people who earlier opposed them, in that case them first giving 'amnesty' (in an attempt to give them a false sense of security) and then also try to prevent them from leaving would make perfect sense.

Biden comes out against sacrificing lives for democracy attempts in afghanistan
He is surprisingly politically incorrect here, no bullshit.

I have never been of the view that we should be sacrificing our American lives to try to establish a democratic government in a Afghanistan; A country who has never once in it's entire history been a united country and is made up with different tribes (i do not mean this in a derogatory way) who have never ever ever gotten along with one-another.

Only the Northern Alliance remains
The last military did leave a day before the deadline agreed with the Taliban

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/afghanistan-withdrawal-united-states-troops-pentagon/

The northern alliance is trying to demand democracy for some insane reason, at least officially, mahybe they actually still believe that would be a great idea.

They did repel a taliban attack earlier

This might work out well until the Taliban has managed to fix the military equipment left behind:
