And why does it happen? A few reasons.
First of all, there aren't a lot of compelling reasons for people to associate with each other anymore. Let's take the example of an incel forum. Why do so many people get banned from .co?
One reason is, for example, knajjd and I don't have any prospects of working together on anything. E.g., I'm not going to be recommending him for anything, or making him aware of a business opportunity, or hiring him, or anything like that. He's already given up on himself, apparently, and decided he's incel for life, or else why would he be there. So, given he has nothing to gain or lose, why wouldn't he ban people for trifling reasons? One might argue, he should cling to the userbase that's all he has left, rather than destroying it by banning everyone, but the fact that we have no common purpose beyond just hanging around shooting the shit about an incel ideology or copes or whatever means it's tempting to just sever the tie over some dumb reason, like if someone gets annoying.
And it's the same way with chicks. Dudes and chicks these days just don't have as much to offer each other anymore. Chicks don't really need dudes, and chicks don't have a lot to offer in return anyway. The average chick graduates from college and has already taken a lot of dicks and become damaged, and is under some pressure to focus on a career or something, so she can have a better life than a housewife would. (Most chicks would theoretically be willing to be a housewife, but the dude would need to make like $120,000 or something before she'd feel like that life was cushy enough for her not to need to work outside the home to supplement his income.)
Since she can provide for a lot of her own support, and he's probably disabled in various ways from supporting her (since, e.g., I would guess that rates of autism and other neuroses are probably rising in our fucked-up society, and those tend to affect men most prominently), what's gonna end up happening in most cases is that they'll go their separate ways. And he may have something to say about that, which is why she'll need to block him.
This is larger than any two people, though; this is pretty much a global phenomenon. The anonymity of the Internet is another factor; if we were communicating with people in our same town, where everyone knew each other, and could bump into each other randomly at the store, people would not be able to cut others off as easily; we would just have to find ways to get along, probably, or else live like hermits. Hey, I was living like a hermit before it was cool, but what's going on in the 2020s transcends even the hermitage I experienced in decades past.
All this blocking and banning is really just another reflection and manifestation of how society is falling apart. Our ties are loosening and coming undone, and we're left with almost nothing. Many of us have a family that's just held together by some boomer patriarch or matriarch, and when that's gone, what will we have? Some of us will have bastard children, or nieces or nephews, maybe, who will return home for lack of anywhere else to go. But we're kinda headed into uncharted territory; it kinda reminds me of the student loan crisis, where there are so many people up shit creek that there's just gonna have to be a mass amnesty at some point. There probably will need to be some sort of system of Yangbuxx instituted to take care of all the misfits out there.
And once we have those Yangbuxx, I imagine this whole hikikomori phenomenon will go into overdrive. We're going to see a new generation emerge, probably, that knows all along they're destined for that life. (And we're perhaps gonna see more neurotic people with low self-esteem assume that's their fate, too, even if it isn't.)
Has there ever been a time that western civilization was as secular as ours is? If we keep going down this road, I imagine we'll end up like Japan or South Korea, and with pretty much the same birth rate. Or, if we consider SJW-ism as similar/analogous to socialism, maybe we'll end up like the Slavic countries that went in that direction. Either way, it's collapse and/or death. It's just a question of whether the decay becames an outright implosion, or whether it happens in a more manageable way, where the last caretakers out the door clean up, shut off the lights, etc. so what's abandoned is left nice and orderly.
