Tragicomic story from Henry Makow's A Long Way to Go for a Date

I tried the dateline service in the newspaper.

My first ad was headed "Lots to Give Right Woman". I wanted a woman age 25-45 who was graceful, intelligent, attractive and had a sense of humor. I described myself and promised revelry, love and travel.

This yielded a couple of messages from 40-something women whose gravelly voices were a turn-off. One woman who sounded feminine on the phone had shoulders wider than mine.

I tried a different tack to lure the younger set. The second ad was headed "Ready for Babies." This also failed miserably. Apparently I was too old for North American women. I am no longer a player.

I turned to cyberspace and posted a profile on Jewish Singles on AOL. I used my hunkiest picture, taken 10 years ago.

A woman reading my profile could deduce that I was attractive, intelligent, rich, funny, loving and idealistic. I said I wanted a woman under 35 because I hadn't given up on children.

There were two responses from women in their early thirties. One referred me to her web site, which had received 2000 "hits." This degree of cyber promiscuity was off-putting.

The second "younger" woman was a PBS producer in New York. I ran afoul of her by disparaging the profession of psychology. (This is another reason I think women should postpone university until after they marry and have children.)
I guess we're supposed to put our own commentary when posting a blurb, but wow, that really speaks for itself. You can totally tell this was written in the web 1.0 era, by the way, when he says, "I turned to cyberspace".
